Thanks for leaving your thoughts, everyone! We’re still reviewing this idea that has definite merit. For now, please leave your votes and comments to help keep this discussion active. Being specific in how this would affect your workflow and how you’re currently doing it will help our product team to implement new features.

Yes, this idea has merit (per the ShipStation comment in the beginning). Just being able to print a minimalist pick list on my thermal printer - SKU, Description, Qty - would speed things up and reduce waste. The current pick list is mostly empty space.

Apparently UPS does expose Smart Pickup through their API: https://www.ups.com/upsdeveloperkit/downloadresource?loc=en_US

Can this feature now be integrated in ShipStation? Also, I've read elsewhere that generating a UPS WorldShip End of Day form will trigger a Smart Pickup.

Hi @guntap, thank you for bringing this up! Have you looked into changing the zoom on your browser? I’ve found that Chrome will only resize the tab you’re looking at so it doesn’t effect your other sites.

Also, what kind of information do you use to ship? There may be some things we can tweak to help you see all the critical information on your screen.

    guntap commented  ·

Yes, I am using both the sidebar and lower pane. The fact is the small interface resize option helped condense everything. The zoom feature is about 80% effective, but it doesn't resize everything as compactly.

    guntap commented  ·

Yes, I'm currently using the zoom feature, but it doesn't seem to resize everything correctly and the interface looks a bit off. Fonts appear tall, thin and a bit wider than they should be. Also, the table grid isn't quite as compact as before, specifically row height.

My orders table has 18 columns, all of which are necessary for me to organize and ship. No columns can be removed otherwise I will lose functionality. The minimum interface size option was very helpful to display the entire grid.

    Hi @everyone,

So, just to help us better understand, would this idea work best for you if it automatically printed whenever an order came in? So, say, an order comes in on Sunday at 4:00 a.m., it should print then. Or would it be better if whenever you log in to ShipStation and have it active that you would prefer to have the packing slips printed out then?

    guntap commented  ·

Other users have already mentioned it, but I'd like to have the packing slips and labels automatically print when I press the "Create Labels" button with Quickship enabled.

Having labels/packing slips automatically print as orders come in isn't something I would use right now, but it could be an option I will use in the future.

    guntap commented  ·

Same here regarding auto packing slip printing, it should have been implemented.

    guntap commented  ·

My thought behind the automatic printing would be that the interface would automatically print the labels and packing slips on batch completion (i.e. eliminate the need to press the "Print Labels" and "Print Packing Slips" buttons). So everything that needed to be done as far as combining orders would have already been completed.

If instead this feature were to be designed to automatically print labels and packing slips as orders come in, then to mitigate the problem with combining orders, there would have to be some kind of user-specified delay (or time-of-day setting). If the customer doesn't place another order within X minutes/hours, then it's assumed there won't be another order from them.

    guntap commented  ·

Not sure why this isn't already an option, but automatic printing seems pretty standard.

I would like to see automatic printing of labels and packing slips upon batch completion (instead of having to click the "Print Packing Slips" and "Print Labels" buttons).

My apologies on being unfamiliar with GSP orders @guntap! I’ve come up with a better solution if you haven’t figured it out already. The rules are similar though, instead of saying “don’t send an email to GSP orders” it will say “only send an email to non-GSP orders”.

If you’ve followed the steps in this article to apply an order tag to your GSP orders (https://help.shipstation.com/hc/en-us/articles/206639637) then you can create a rule that says: “Order tags do not include (your GSP tag name), use email template for…” Be sure to add this rule after/below the rule that tags your GSP orders.

You can also become more specific in case you have other stores that do not need to be affected: If store = ebay and if order tags do not include (your GSP tag)… use email template for …"

Although this isn’t an optimal solution, this will…

    guntap commented  ·

I tried the suggestions you provided and no e-mails are being sent. In the eBay store settings, I turned off the shipment notifications e-mails (per your first post) then I created a rule that says if the order tags do not include GSP and store equals eBay, then use e-mail template for shipment notification (e-mail template chosen). Perhaps you can clarify why the e-mails are not being sent.

    guntap commented  ·

We receive GSP orders daily. As of now, these are the only orders that should be excluded from the email confirmations. On several occasions, we've had GSP customers contact us asking why their shipment is going to Erlanger.

I'll review the instructions you've posted to see if it'll work for the time being. But the GSP exclusion should be considered for the eBay store setup as eBay specifically states in their GSP program details that sellers are not supposed to send e-mails to the customers with shipment details. This is managed by eBay/Pitney Bowes with an international tracking number.

Hi! We’re still looking into the ability to add support for Amazon custom orders. We are still looking into how to effectively import Amazon Custom orders and extract their unique Amazon Custom data from the feed to properly populate into the order detail. As we get updates on this feature, we will keep you posted.
