Thanks for your feedback! It looks like you are referring to the carrier menu when marking orders as shipped. If this is incorrect, please let us know which carrier list you’re looking at in the comments below.

The product team will review your request and you’ll hear from us once we have made a decision.

I would like the ability to create and manage custom carriers. I know that SS concern is the ability to have a tracking link work though.
I would like to be able to select from a bunch of Freight Carriers that we use often like YRC, Estes Express, Roadway, etc.

Shipworks works around this by when the user selects "other" for the carrier, it provides a blank to input the carrier name. Then the carrier name at least gets transmitted to the customer. Currently, I am entering the Pro# with the carrier name behind it like this: 037-987633--ESTES - then I select "other" and mark as shipped when processing drop ships.

Also, this thread started over two years ago . . . guess that shipstation is still "reviewing our request", but don't worry, we'll hear back from them when a decision is made.

Just so you know, you can email packing slips through the mobile app, but not through the web desktop program.

Shipstation says that the main reason is phone users want to be able to email things . . . ?
Well I like to email from my computer too

It's sort of weird that we have to dive down into the order activity tab to locate tracking numbers on an order that is drop-shipped. Also, the carrier name doesn't show up in this area. Mine just says carrier=4 (this means FedEx to all you noobs) :|

    Also,
Why have a separate"Shipments" tab at the top and also one on the side as a subsection of Orders? Why do they both operate differently? In the Shipments section under the Orders menu, the tracking number isn't a viewable column. In the top Shipments tab, the tracking number is a viewable column.

Hi product team - can you provide any updates on being able to email customers things like:

"Bill - thanks for your order is due to ship on Tuesday"

"here's the copy of that invoice you requested since Shipworks doesn't let sellers show pricing on shipment emails"

"Dear customer - I am wanting to inform you that your order has multiple tracking numbers since it shipped from various locations. My current shipment manager, ShipStaion, only lets me show one tracking number on the order, so I wanted to reach out to you and make you aware of this so you don't freak out"

"Hello Jane - thanks for your order. Here is that commercial invoice you needed in order for your order to pass through customs in Indonesia"

"Bob - here is a copy of your revised order. We only had two of these in stock instead of the three units that you ordered. The tracking number will follow in another message tomorrow".

I would love to be able to send custom emails through Shipstation - yo whassup with you guys?
    Whatcha thinkin about in Austin?

Thanks for taking all of your time to roll out really important things like testing fancy fonts and popular things like Bandcamp and Cin7

    June 2017|June Monthly Round-Up
"We could brag about how much testing we put into it or the fancy fonts we chose, such as Roboto and Adelle Sans. But what you probably care more about are the results and the fact that lower case i’s and l’s really look differently now".

I see the email packing slip feature is available in the mobile app when you go to print a packing slip. Let’s get this email packing slip capability on the desktop version. Being able to send the customer a custom email anytime during orde processing is grand.

Ok - let's get started on this one Admin. It'd sure be a great addition to help communicate with customers in the 4th qtr.

I would use it to let customers know when their order will ship if it's backordered.

    One more clarification:
ShipStation currently has everything in place for emails. The only thing missing is to be able to make emails work with existing unshipped orders that have already been imported.

If you allowed emails to work with orders in that status you would solve it.

Hello. Can you provide more details/transparency on the review process?

Here are some points to open the discussion:

    1. What are some concerns SS has about this request?
1a. If you do create a bulk email feature for existing orders, just make it wide open and customizable like you already do with your templates. Users will be able to insert their own trigger points that are already present in your automation tools.
    2. Can a list of workarounds be created that would limit SS exposure to large email quantity?
i.e. -create PDF template that can be attached and emailed through desktop client email.
    3. Help SS users understand why a review may take 2-3 years. ( the design process of a recent Lexus grille took 3.5 years to complete

I second this idea. I would pay extra for this "module". The inability to email customers through shipstation is crippling to our business

Currently, there is only the "other" option when adding a carrier name to items that we dropship from a fulfillment center. Our fulfillment centers use a variety of LTL freight carriers. We need a better way to communicate the full carrier information to customers

    Hello,

We are still interested in supporting LTL Freight. However, our current infrastructure does not support any LTL shipping providers. We will continue to review the integration and let you know once any updates occur.

    Thanks again!

Being able to input a custom carrier name rather than "other" would be huge for us. Shipworks support this. When "other" is selected in Shipworks, a blank appears to input a custom carrier name.

The tracking information doesn't even have to be trackable with a link. I don't expect that. The carrier name and pro# just gets sent to the marketplace without a tracking link anyway.

We drop ship lots of LTL freight. This is one of the few downsides to ShipStation.

I tried connecting Zapier to Shipstation and am super close to getting this backorder email connection figured out, the Zapier action will only run when an order is newly imported into Shipstation. It will not run on datat input after an order is imported.

Hey everyone! Thank you to @Perry who took the time to bring this one up! We’ll keep your feedback in mind, but for now we’re primarily interested in hearing what other users have to say.

If you haven’t already, please let us know your thoughts on this and how you’re doing this today (if at all).

There are companies out there that connect to your UPS/FedEx account and automatically submit refund requests for late shipments. They end up splitting the refunds with you, but it's totally automated. We use Lamphrey Systems Small Package Auditing for this.

Hi @Eric, thanks for posting this! We’ll keep this in mind when improving our email templates and the On Hold function. For now, we’d like to see what other shippers think about this.

Please be sure to add your examples if you’re interested!

I have tried to create an automation rule that takes the estimated ship date input from Custom Field 2 and inserts that into an email template. I have not been able to get the emails to send out for some reason though.
