The ShipStation Feedback Forum collects your ideas and allows you to vote and comment on other ideas so our product team can understand what new features are most important to you or what business challenges we need to address next.

Everyone has 20 votes to spend on ideas that are important to them (but you can comment as much as you like). 

While all ideas will get reviewed, it's simply not possible for all ideas to make it onto the product roadmap. The more activity an idea has, however, the more likely it is to be considered. So, be sure to check if your idea has already been posted so you can add your votes and comments to it! 

Suggestions for Writing a Great Idea Post

  • Write a title to succinctly summarize your post. Other users should be able to identify if their idea is similar to yours just by reading the title so they will know to vote and comment on it!
  • Explain the problem you are trying to solve and what you think should be added or changed in ShipStation to solve this problem. 
  • Describe how you would use this feature or how you think it should function to serve your need.
  • Attach a screenshot to help illustrate your point. 
  • Put the idea in the category that best fits what you are trying to accomplish (for example: Order Management, Insights & Reporting, or Printing & Documents).

What to Expect With an Idea 


Our moderators will regularly review posts to ensure:
    • They are categorized in a logical way. If not, they may move them to the proper category. 
    • The title accurately reflects the idea content so others can understand. If not, they may edit the post title to help others identify posts they want to vote and comment on.
    • That posts are really ideas and not bug reports or issues that require contacting our support team. 
    • That any request that has an existing solution or can be accomplished with existing features gets a response to let everyone know a solution or feature already exists and how to learn about it.
Our moderators will also update the statuses of posts as they are considered by our product team. If an idea makes it onto the roadmap, we'll update the idea status from Planned to Started to Completed as work progresses on the idea. If an idea is declined or archived, our moderator will update the status to indicate so and you will receive your votes back to use on other ideas in the future. 

Finally, if more information is needed on an idea, the moderator will post a reply to ask for them. If it is your idea or you have commented on the idea, you should receive an email notification when this occurs.

    At this time with Shopify's new order editing feature, shipstation currently only supports adding line items to current orders.

    We would like the feature to also support removal of items as well. Otherwise we have to split orders which is not efficient.

  2. Make 4x6 packing slip in Landscape format

    Much easier to read if you make the 4x6 packing slip in a landscape format, You can increase the font size and still keep everything in-line.

  3. Set insurance amount for carrier in Automation Rules

    In our business we have multiple forms of insurance on our shipments as we sell a lot of laptop computers and need to make sure it is safe. Within our FedEx Account we have discounted rates and special policies so we only need to apply a set amount of insurance to each package as it is cheaper to insure it for more or less than the sell price usually.The current option in Automation Rules only allows you to set the Insurance to Carrier, ShipStation Insurance or External/Other.The ability to set the amount of insurance on the shipment as well would…

  4. Being able to set the packing slip size by store instead of a global setting

    Currently, packing slips are a global setting applied to all stores. If you have multiple stores where some packing slips are 4 X 6 and some packing slips are 8 X 11, you need to change the account settings every time you print. Would be way more convenient to be able to assign the size of the packing slips by store so you don't have to constantly change the account setting.

    Hey, @csr! Thanks for bringing this up! We’ll keep this in mind when updating our packing slips. For now, we’d like to see your idea gain more support from other users before making a decision.

    Can you tell us what makes the packing slips different between your two stores? Hopefully this added information will help other users better understand your idea so they can add their input and votes.

  5. Allow manual Blind Shipping

    We do drop shipping for many customers and need to make the package look like it is shipping from our customer to their customer (even though we are shipping it). While shipping, we should be able to select "Other" from the warehouse field and manually type in a temporary "From address"

  6. Adding different LTL freight carriers to this shipping options

    Having the ability to select LTL freight carrier such AAA Cooper, Averitt Express, YRC, Old Dominion to the shipping options... and incorporating a link to these carrier's websites on the email notification the customer gets when the orders are marked as shipped. Currently we have to select "other" as the shipping carrier and creates extra customer service cases when customer can't track their shipments. Customer are used the ease of just clicking a link to track their shipments, instead of having to go to the carrier's website.

  7. Being able to customize the name of each Custom Field would be incredibly helpful.

    When I import from a CSV, I'd love the opportunity to customize our Custom Fields (1-3) so that it's clear what they're being used for. We currently have to use a shared document with a key. And that's not as simple as just being able to have a column that clearly says what the data means.

  8. Shipping and Quotes for Multiple Packages

    We ship a large majority of our orders in multiple packages and currently do so manually by going into the order, clicking "+" next to "Package" to ship multiple packages, and applying a "Package Set". It would save a lot of time to allow multiple packages when creating new "Preset Groups" under the "Products" tab. Currently, it only allows us to preset one package under "Shipping Defaults" when adding a Preset Group. Please also input a "+" button for multiple packages for the Rate Calculator and when creating return labels. These new additions would improve our workflow and the efficiency…

  9. amazon transparency

    Amazon has recently introduced their "Transparency" to better track inventory and to ensure its authenticity. We carry dozens of transparency enabled products which for merchant fulfilled orders require us to scan and upload transparency codes to Amazon that are scanned off the product. Currently this upload process is manual. We'd like for ShipStation to add a feature through the Amazon API that allows a scanned transparency code to be uploaded to the order and transmitted to Amazon when tracking information is transmitted.

  10. HazMat service with my already in place contract from UPS

    I ship smokeless powder which qualifies as Hazmat, a feature I need. Please, as we are Mac based, UPS seems to have no plans for an Apple version of World Ship and Hazmat has to be computer generated.

    @James, thanks for checking in on this one. We’re still interested in this idea and we don’t have a timeline on it. This is something that will need further investigation from our end as well as working with UPS to be able to further integrate Hazardous Material support.

  11. Hide Unit Price And Order Total

    Working with third party suppliers who are fulfilling orders for us we need the ability to hide the unit $ and the total $.

  12. Use eBay order number instead of sales record number, to reduce clicks and memorization time needed to get to eBay Print Shipping Label

    By using eBay's OLD sales record number instead of the CURRENT order number eBay implemented in AUGUST 2019 (9 months ago!), ShipStation is causing customer teams to waste time and create errors by having to do these steps to reach the Print Shipping Label functionality in eBay for EVERY order that is processed:
    1) scroll up to the top of the SS Order Details page to read and memorize or copy/paste the eBay userid
    2) click eBay OLD sales invoice number at top of SS Order Details page to open the eBay tab
    3) click item title in eB
    4)…

    ShipStation is integrating with eBay’s new Fulfillments API, which will use the new eBay order number instead of the sales record number. But there are a few things to know about this new integration.

    It is currently available for new ShipStation accounts (the old method of connecting to eBay has been deactivated for new accounts as well).

    It will soon be available for existing ShipStation accounts. If you currently have an eBay store connected to ShipStation there will be a migration process you must follow to use the new integration. We are building a migration guide that will be available when the new integration is enabled for existing users in the coming weeks.

  13. EORI/VAT number for international shipments

    This option is on the roadmap to be implemented soon. Due to Brexit requirements, this feature has been implemented for UK accounts. For UK users, the option to add EORI, VAT, and other Tax ID numbers is located in Settings > Shipping > International Settings. Once added to the account, you can then assign the EORI/TaxID number to shipments in the Customs section of the order.

    While there is currently no automated way to add the TaxID numbers to shipments yet, this is also on the roadmap.

  14. Return Label Shipment Notification and Reporting

    Notify us (or designated email) when a return label has been used by the recipient (ie picked up by the carrier).

    Also, generate a report showing all unused labels

  15. Harmonization Code Sync Up

    It would be incredibly helpful if ShipStation could import Harmonization codes from Shopify for international orders automatically. I was able to enter all the information manually, but it was time consuming, and could have easily been done automatically, given that the codes exist in Shopify, and ShipStation requires them.

  16. We would like to run a report to tell us to which states we ship to the most

    We may run reports to let us know to which US states we ship to the most. Reports could be on monthly basis or custom dates.

    Thanks for voting, everyone! We’d like to hear more about this idea before making a decision. On our last update, we proposed the Insights heat map located under Insights > Customer Overview. Can you tell us if the heat map has (or has not!) met your needs, and how you’d use the proposed report?

  17. switching between 8X11 and 4X6 custom packing slips

    I was hoping you can add the ability to make switching between custom 4x6 and 8x11 packing slips easier. Our store is mainly a daily deals type store but we also have thousands of different products so half of our sales are people ordering one quantity of one product and the other half of our orders is just like any other. It is important that we switch between the 4x6 printer and the 8x11 printer in order to make our daily workflow go smoothly.

  19. API branded tracking page, a generic one to link on my website

    I was wondering if we could have a link to a generic link to a branded tracking page. I just use it as a link on my website so people can easily track their package. I have to use USPS's tracking page for now. Wish I could have it with ShipStation, it would provide a much cleaner feel.

  20. Have the tracking link on the Shipments tab link to the Branded Tracking

    Love the branded tracking, but still about 70% of customer contact is in relation to shipping, and my replies nearly always include a link to the carrier's tracking site, which I get by right clicking and 'copy link address' from the Shipments page in SS.

    My request is that these links also link to the branded tracking, so I can see what the customer sees, and also avoids the need to link to USPS, DHL etc.
