ShipStation’s Feedback and Fresh Ideas Forum is moving!


We have started the process of moving our ideas forum to a new home in the ShipStation Community.

As of August 4th, 2021, this Feedback and Fresh Ideas Forum is no longer accepting new ideas, votes, or comments. However, this forum will remain visible until shortly after the new Ideas board on the ShipStation Community goes live. After that date, this forum will no longer be visible.

If you would like to post an idea after August 4th but before the new Ideas board is live, we have created a temporary discussion board in the community for you to do so. Once our new Ideas board is live, our moderator will move all posts to their permanent home.

ShipStation has used this same forum since we released our very first version back in 2011. In that time, we’ve implemented hundreds of our users’ ideas! But, as our users and our product has evolved, we’ve realized the way we seek and manage our users’ feedback must evolve as well. Starting in September, all feedback and ideas discussions will take place in the Ideas board of the ShipStation Community

If you are not already a member of the ShipStation Community, please join! You can participate in user discussion boards, read exclusive community blog posts, earn rewards through community exclusive events, and much more. To join, go to community.shipstation.com and click the profile icon. You’ll be prompted to log in to your ShipStation account and then redirected back to the community where you can set your unique username and customize your profile (if you wish). What will happen to the existing Feedback and Fresh Ideas posts?


Unfortunately, we cannot move all ideas to the new Ideas forum. The posts we are not moving are being set to the  "Archived" status in this forum.


The posts we do move will maintain their statuses, voter count, comments, and link to the original poster. 

Posts we will move to the new Ideas board: 

  • All posts in Started, Planned, and In Consideration Queue statuses.
  • Some posts in the Under Review status or with no status, based on post age, recent activity, vote count, and relevance.

  1. How do you turn off Unconfigured Products Alerts

    These Unconfigured Products alerts are super annoying, they are constantly telling me the same thing. I risk missing alerts that I actually care about. How do I turn it off?

  2. UPS from ShipStation Rates on Selling Channels

    Posting for our User!

    Offering discounted UPS rates to a SS ecommerce customer but not providing the necessary credentials or links to get the rates applied to the customer’s UPS account makes the discounted rates pretty useless since the rates cannot be displayed in a shopping cart for a user to select at checkout. Maybe that’s not the intended use, but isn’t a SS customer intended to be ecommerce related?

  3. let webhooks trigger marketplace notification

    There is a column that indicates that the Marketplace was notified that a shipment went out. However, if the marketplace is not fully integrated and uses webhooks instead, that field is not updated. It would be nice if the webhook would also trigger the notification flag. This is for marketplace notifications, not email notifications to customers; our marketplaces take care of those.

    Right now, we need to go back to the original marketplace for each order to make sure that ShipStation properly notified it about the shipment details.

  4. Carriers & Fulfillment Settings/Accounts syncing

    We have two FedEx accounts and two UPS accounts. When I check services in one FedEx account, the other FedEx account services sync to it (same when I check settings in one of the UPS accounts). This is so frustrating. If the service settings in each account were isolated and unique to a particular account, our shippers could choose a shipping method and not have to fill in the correct account - it could be automatically filled in.   5. auto ship available items and create backorder unavailable

    It wouldl be helpful to scan items avaialble to ship, and have the system create a package/shipmnet based on those items, and automatically creating a backorder from the unscanned items, rather than having to do this manually. Very time consuming

  6. USPS International / Stamps.com /Shipstation - False Advertising

    If you are using Stamps.com & Shipstation, the service "USPS International" is not actually USPS international. It's a service from GlobalPost a 3rd party shipping carrier.

    The label you get from Shipstation will not be a USPS label, and the handling party is not USPS as if you had bought an international label from USPS.

    The rates are also not the same as USPS international rates.

    Shipstation should accurately describe this service as such in their UI as a GlobalPost service and should provide a different option to actually use USPS International. They should also make some amends to customers…

  7. Scan Preset Package IDs/Names instead of having to select to select them from a drop down list

    It would be helpful during shipping to be able to scan a box ID to fill in preset dimensions rather than selecting the box through a drop down list. To be a truly competitive shipping solution, you need to focus on speed of processing shipments. The best way to process shipments faster is to avoid having to use the keyboard/mouse when you should just be able to complete shipments with a scanner. Please consider adding this enhancement to create a shipping process where most orders can be shipped using only the scanner to fill in package details.

  8. DIM to auto adjust package weight

    There needs to be a way to enter the DIM and have it auto adjust the package weight based on our DIM factor. Our packages sizes are all over the place and we cannot possibly add in every possible size we might run into. On world ship for UPS when you enter a DIM it adjusts to the new DIM weight so everything matches. Ship Station does not and if you don't take that step to override it, it does not match. UPS is charging a $14.50 fee if you are over 70% off on your dim per package. OUCH.…

  9. Exporting Tracking with URL links

    I would like to have a way to export large numbers of tracking numbers in the shipment export feature so that they have links embedded in each tracking number. This would be especially helpful when sending tracking to customers who have ordered hundreds of shipments at once. Cutting and pasting each individual one from the order details page is too painful.

  10. fedex collect

    There doesn't seem to be an automation action to set the freight billing method to "Collect" or "Bill Recipient". As of now it's merely "charge shipping to 3rd party...", "Charge Shipping to My Account", or "Collect Payment on Delivery (C.O.D.)...

    None of these are suitable when the customer required "Collect" shipping.

    I know that the functionality is available within an actual shipment utilizing the "Shipping Account" dropdown under the "Other Shipping Options" section, but this is seemingly not part of the available automations.

    Please consider adding this.

  11. Multiple items shipping

    Thinking along the lines of Amazon, there must be an automated method to have multiple items (depending on the order), to be put into a rule for shipping. These would come in as single orders (via Cin7), but need to be flexible to package those line items into one shipper. I only see this is a manual process right now. The multiple package option is great, but only available on a small number of shippers. The split order can allow, but now you have to manually enter all your shipping information.   12. Add our own couriers to mark as shipped list

    Is there any way that ShipStation can let customers add theirt own couriers? We ship internationally and we are having to use the "other" courier dropdown and when we push to Shopify this does not let our customers track their order.

    If adding additional couriers is an issue is there any way that we can specify the tracking URL for the "other" courier so we can send them to a generic tracking page like trackdog.com etc so that customers can track their parcels?

  13. Shipstation generates random order numbers on Amazon FBA Fulfillment - Impossible to trace orders

    I use Amazon FBA inventory to fulfill my orders onto Etsy.
    Etsy orders have an order number associated with them.

    It would be great for Shipstation to use that Etsy order number and input into the Amazon shipment and use the same order number.

    That way, when I have an issue with an Etsy order, I can quickly look the order up onto Amazon.

    However, for some reason ShipStation generates a completely random order number that does correspond with anything at all. This makes it impossible to trace orders.

  14. Shipping Weight Alerts

    Shipping weight alerts - alerts the shipping staff member if the weight they enter exceeds the auto enter weight in ship station which can give them a warning or an override option.

    Sometimes wrong upc labels can be attached on boxes this way the shipping manager can find out if everything looks good or not and correct the error.

  15. need ability to add extra shipping and handling charge

    The ability for us to to add a S&H Charge to a "rate browser" shipment or manual order is important. For example, we want to be able to charge $3.50 S&H to each shipment above and beyond the negotiated UPS/FedEx rates. This would be used when we have a walk-in customer or manual shipment to process (not an e-commerce order).

    ShipStation has released a tool available for some selling channels that will allow the ability to add a set charge to the rate your customer sees at checkout.

    This feature is called In-cart Delivery Options and is currently available for Shopify, BigCommerce, and Magento (with more channels to come).

  16. support for non-roman characters on labels

    Hello! We have a large volume of international mail and can't turn off non-roman characters on Shopify. They are supported for USPS but shipstation just leaves a blank (no ???) on those labels so hard to detect. We have many issues created by this when labels go through with incomplete addresses-- we have to manually look through big batches to try and catch it. When we don't the label still prints with no Errors!!! There at least should be an error alerting us to blank space on expensive international labels that bounce back 2 months later leaving us to DHL…

  17. Rate Browser Carrier Default Option Needed

  18. Default Phone Number Parcelforce

    Please can a default phone number be added when creating labels through Parcelforce

    At present - we cannot bulk create labels as we have to enter every order through shipstation and add a string of zero's if this field is not filled by the customer

    Shipstation is the only platform that is requesting a phone number before the label can be created

  19. Sender's email address as default for shipment issues notifications

    It would be great if we can have a feature wherein the sender's email address is used as default to receive notification when a shipment has been delivered, failed delivery, awaiting for collection so it can be avoided being returned to the sender. It is very time consuming when checking each shipment status.

  20. Pick and scan in batches

    Hello,
    As you have the scan to pack feature, it would be great to have a paperless picking feature where item status is updated while picking in specific batches.
    Ideally, if we can also add or confirm inventory while picking (seeing inventory on hand) while picking, it could help with inventory accuracy.

Feedback and Knowledge Base
