ShipStation’s Feedback and Fresh Ideas Forum is moving!


We have started the process of moving our ideas forum to a new home in the ShipStation Community.

As of August 4th, 2021, this Feedback and Fresh Ideas Forum is no longer accepting new ideas, votes, or comments. However, this forum will remain visible until shortly after the new Ideas board on the ShipStation Community goes live. After that date, this forum will no longer be visible.

If you would like to post an idea after August 4th but before the new Ideas board is live, we have created a temporary discussion board in the community for you to do so. Once our new Ideas board is live, our moderator will move all posts to their permanent home.

ShipStation has used this same forum since we released our very first version back in 2011. In that time, we’ve implemented hundreds of our users’ ideas! But, as our users and our product has evolved, we’ve realized the way we seek and manage our users’ feedback must evolve as well. Starting in September, all feedback and ideas discussions will take place in the Ideas board of the ShipStation Community

If you are not already a member of the ShipStation Community, please join! You can participate in user discussion boards, read exclusive community blog posts, earn rewards through community exclusive events, and much more. To join, go to community.shipstation.com and click the profile icon. You’ll be prompted to log in to your ShipStation account and then redirected back to the community where you can set your unique username and customize your profile (if you wish). Once registered, you can participate in any discussion on the community. 


What will happen to the existing Feedback and Fresh Ideas posts?


Unfortunately, we cannot move all ideas to the new Ideas forum. The posts we are not moving are being set to the  "Archived" status in this forum.


The posts we do move will maintain their statuses, voter count, comments, and link to the original poster. 

Posts we will move to the new Ideas board: 

  • All posts in Started, Planned, and In Consideration Queue statuses.
  • Some posts in the Under Review status or with no status, based on post age, recent activity, vote count, and relevance.
  • Posts that have been set to Completed within the last 12 months.

    It would be great to be able to automate multiple packages per order through the API.

  2. More Shipment Columns

    I would like to have the option of having more columns on the shipments page so that I can customize what I see according to our companies needs. we use some of the custom fields as well as other important fields to mark our orders and it would be a lot easier if we would be able to see those fields on the main shipment page.

  3. Multi Package Shipping for more UK carriers

    The vast majority of our orders require more than one box and therefore have to be manually fulfilled.
    DPD support multi package shipping so please add this to the UK integration

  4. Scan and store serial numbers of shipped orders

    We'd like to be able to scan outgoing products and associate them to their orders as they are being shipped out.

  5. Shipping and Quotes for Multiple Packages

    We ship a large majority of our orders in multiple packages and currently do so manually by going into the order, clicking "+" next to "Package" to ship multiple packages, and applying a "Package Set". It would save a lot of time to allow multiple packages when creating new "Preset Groups" under the "Products" tab. Currently, it only allows us to preset one package under "Shipping Defaults" when adding a Preset Group. Please also input a "+" button for multiple packages for the Rate Calculator and when creating return labels. These new additions would improve our workflow and the efficiency…

  6. Need to add the Restore function to V3

    I have tried the ‘Create Another Shipment’ option in V3, however the problem is that it does not carry forward the item detail from the original shipment into the new shipment.

    Therefore at the end of the month when I reconcile the inventory, it does not show that we in fact shipped 2pc of whatever item it was, it only records the original item shipment.

    Please pass along my comments to the developers as this function is essential to our order processing, inventory management as well as our month end reporting.

  7. Batch processing to add customs information to international shipments.

    We have 165 international orders from a Kickstarter project (along with about 1,600 domestic). The international orders were imported WITHOUT customs information provided. It would be EXTREMELY helpful to be able to "batch" add information for customs to all of these orders. Just fyi, we do not have these orders linked to "products/items." We would simply like to bulk apply information to all of these orders. Unfortunately, there is not a feature that allows me to do so with customs information. Huge pain...

    Thanks for your input! You’re right that we currently have limited bulk actions for customs information, so we’d like for your idea to gain more support from other users before making a decision.

    Any information you can add here may catch the attention (and votes!) of users in similar situations. Please be sure to comment here in the forum if you’re still interested in having bulk actions for customs information.

  8. Customizing Carrier Drop Down Lists

    As Shipstation is adding new carriers the list of carriers in the drop down lists is getting so long that it now requires scrolling to access popular carriers like UPS. This is really cumbersome when updating shipping information from a drop ship or external shipping process. How about either suggestion carrier based on the tracking number (which would also increase speed) or at least allow personalized reorder of carrier list or even turn off carriers not used by users in preferences.

  9. Sending or showing multiple package tracking numbers to let customers know more packages are coming if they receive one of multiple package

    Sometimes our customers get confused when they receive one of multiple packages and open the package, there are not full items they ordered, because they only can see one tracking number and they don't expect more packages are coming. Sending or showing multiple package tracking numbers can help customers to know whats going on their orders and definitely reduce these concerns.

  10. Insurance on COST, not RETAIL price

    When insuring a package, we want to be able to insure just the COST of the product if damaged or went missing, not the RETAIL VALUE. Currently your software takes the full retail value and uses that to determine the insurance amount. This doesn't make sense as shipping carriers will only reimburse you on the cost, not the retail value.

    This is a fault, as no system is set up like this.

    If I lose a $1000 item, but it only cost me $100, Fedex will only credit me $100.

    So why am I paying insurance on $1000 if Iêd…

    Hello!

    As we continue to look at the options around this suggestion, we wanted to let you know a possible workaround.

    Currently, you can use ShipStation’s bulk update feature to update the declared value for all orders that have the same cost value. Just select the orders, choose Bulk Update > Insurance, select the Carrier Insurance option and enter the insure amount.

  11. Show tags on Scan to Print/Verify to Print Screen

    Some of the tags that we use are for flagging certain orders to apply a hot key or special shipment configuration at the scan to print screen. We pick and pack multiple orders at once and then scan their packing slips at a later stage to print the shipping label. It would be beneficial to show the "tag" on this screen so we know which shipping configuration to add. We can't add shipping configurations prior in bulk because we do not yet have the weight of the fully packed order or type of package that will be used.

  12. Alerts for shipment delivery exceptions

    Recently we had a package that was returned to sender. The tracking information shows that we received the package, but we believe the package to be lost.

    Our team had not been regularly checking the delivery exceptions tab of the shipments page, so this order went into the error state without us knowing about it.

    If we could choose to turn on alerts when orders go into the delivery exception state, our team could have investigated and addressed the issue much sooner.

  13. Drop-menu for multi-Package Shipments

    A lot of our shipments are multi-package shipments. So when we enter the screen to add packages, it asks us to enter the weight and dimensions of each package.

    You have solved the problem for multi-package products. However, if it is a long list of different products, we still need to enter the dimensions and weight of each package. As you cannot save a profile of an odd order with many different products.

    I wonder if it is possible to instead of entering this data, to simply choose the item with a drop menu out of the data base. This…

  14. alert for unused labels

    Hi
    There should be an alert on ship station which can tell us if there are any unused labels which we need to void as often we create a label which does not get used and gets wasted and we forget to void it

    so there should be an alert for it as well as a filter to see all the unused labels

  15. If you can't go around pre-paid postage, how about creating a feature to automatically void a label if tracking isn't updated within X weeks

    So the idea of not having to do pre-paid return labels seems to be dead (it was posted almost 4.5 years ago).

    How about having ship station automatically void a label if the tracking hasn't updated in X weeks time? If I can void it manually, there should be no excuse why ship station can't have this feature to automatically void it for me for USPS service.

    Maybe even have it for UPS/Fedex as well?

  16. Automatically notify when late delivery

    Would be great if there was a way that ShipStation could notify us whenever a package is late. This way we know when USPS or UPS aren't within their guaranteed time window (i.e. UPS One-Day or USPS Express, etc) so we can request a refund from that carrier.

  17. Automate End of Day

    It would be extremely beneficial for my company to have the "End of day" submission automated so that I don't have to go and close shipments each day.

    There are glitches on your end that are not picking up all articles for Australia post and I have been charged thousands of dollars by Australia post because "end of day" forms were not closed.

    This needs to be addressed as I am considering leaving Shipstation for this reason.

  18. Add your own carriers to mark as shipped list

    We use a variety of shipping and freight options that are not available as carriers in shipstation. When we choose a shipping company outside of shipstation we will come back and manually mark the order as shipped. But when we go to select the carrier we are using, they are not available so we have to select "Other".

    We should be able to create CARRIERS so we don't have to select "other" for every outside shipping company. Adding new carriers would make it easier to keep track of which carrier was used instead of relying on a tracking number and…

  19. Saturday Delivery Criteria for selected DAYS of the week instead of DATES

    Whenever we activate Saturday Delivery, all our 2-day orders are auto opted for this option. This includes orders placed from Monday- Friday. We then have to manually opt-out of Saturday delivery throughout the week. Can we set a criteria option for Thursday orders only? It will save a lot of time!

  20. More detailed shipping status - currently only "shipped" or "delivered"

    We use UPS and need to know when a delivery is attempted & missed so this can trigger a notification in Shopify to alert our customer. At the moment Shipstation does not offer this shipping status. Alternatively, have Shipstation send UPS a customers email when creating a label so UPS can notify them directly.
