The ShipStation Feedback Forum collects your ideas and allows you to vote and comment on other ideas so our product team can understand what new features are most important to you or what business challenges we need to address next.

Everyone has 20 votes to spend on ideas that are important to them (but you can comment as much as you like). 

While all ideas will get reviewed, it's simply not possible for all ideas to make it onto the product roadmap. The more activity an idea has, however, the more likely it is to be considered. So, be sure to check if your idea has already been posted so you can add your votes and comments to it! 

Suggestions for Writing a Great Idea Post

  • Write a title to succinctly summarize your post. Other users should be able to identify if their idea is similar to yours just by reading the title so they will know to vote and comment on it!
  • Explain the problem you are trying to solve and what you think should be added or changed in ShipStation to solve this problem. 
  • Describe how you would use this feature or how you think it should function to serve your need.
  • Attach a screenshot to help illustrate your point. 
  • Put the idea in the category that best fits what you are trying to accomplish (for example: Order Management, Insights & Reporting, or Printing & Documents).

What to Expect With an Idea 


Our moderators will regularly review posts to ensure:
    • They are categorized in a logical way. If not, they may move them to the proper category. 
    • The title accurately reflects the idea content so others can understand. If not, they may edit the post title to help others identify posts they want to vote and comment on.
    • That posts are really ideas and not bug reports or issues that require contacting our support team. 
    • That any request that has an existing solution or can be accomplished with existing features gets a response to let everyone know a solution or feature already exists and how to learn about it.
Our moderators will also update the statuses of posts as they are considered by our product team. If an idea makes it onto the roadmap, we'll update the idea status from Planned to Started to Completed as work progresses on the idea. If an idea is declined or archived, our moderator will update the status to indicate so and you will receive your votes back to use on other ideas in the future. 

Finally, if more information is needed on an idea, the moderator will post a reply to ask for them. If it is your idea or you have commented on the idea, you should receive an email notification when this occurs.

  1. Fraud Risk Alerts

    I would like to help try to flag orders that may be fraudulent. Like the fraud risk alerts on shopify, if it could alert us when the billing and shipping address are different so we can determine our risk and decide if we would want to ship.

  2. Add City as an Alternative to Zip Code in the Rate Calculator

    When checking a rate for an international location DHL doesn't use zip codes for many countries when calculating rates so a rate doesn't show up and an error message appears about a invalid city or zip code. Adding a city field and even a neighborhood like DHL does on their website would help facilitate the rate calculator for international places.

  3. Automate orders that have Out of Stock items to "Hold"

    You should be able to do at least 1 of 2 things - if not both:
    1. Split ship multiple/any orders that have "0" qty in stock.
    2. Bulk move any orders that have an item that is not in stock to "Hold"

    For any company that does pre-orders, it is an incredible headache to put multiple orders that have "0" inventory on hold. We have daily orders for things we have in stock and some orders are partially in stock and out of stock.

    Problems:
    1. In the order queue, there is no column to show if items are…

  4. Way to Assign Orders to a Specific User via Upload

    I would like to be able to assign orders to specific users via some sort of spreadsheet upload. We have to manually assign thousands of orders a day during the holidays. The ability to do this in bulk (all at once) would literally save me hours a day.

  5. reorder shipping presets

    We would love to have the ability to reorder shipping presets at will. Currently they only display in alphabetical order, meaning that some of our most-used presets (i.e. anything starting with a letter near the end of the alphabet: Standard Flat-Rate) are relegated to the bottom of the list, making us have to scroll at the way down every time.

  6. ability to assign users to particular warehouse

    I would like to be able to assign multiple users to a specific warehouse and for those users to only be able to see orders assigned to their warehouse.

    This would help with order management as multiple people could process orders and not be tied to one user account (useful for when people are on holiday), increases security as you wouldn't need to give some one your password when away and would limit sensitive data about how many orders are being fulfilled at each warehouse.

    It also allows for more granular audit trails for errors and activity as multiple people…

  7. Lock Customer Address from Auto-Correct for All Customer's Future Orders

    Could you consider adding a new feature that allows us to lock a specific customer's address from any changes initiated by the address validation system on any future orders? Right now we can lock specific orders but not the customer's whole profile. This is frustrating for us because ship station keeps incorrectly editing the address of one of our customers. She is a loyal customer and has shopped with us over 20 times but every single time she places a new order we need to manually change her address and re-lock it.   8. importing orders with multiple options

    Is there a way to import orders with multiple options? We have many orders we import for apparel items that have both size and colors as options, yet there is only one mappable option field for imports.

  9. Add 'Customs Declaration Quantity' to Bulk Update Feature

    Right now you can bulk update customs declarations line items, which is great, but there is no way to update the quantity of the items. I use UPS Mail Innovations to ship international orders, and all customs declarations have to fit on one line. I am able to achieve this with the 'Default Customs Declarations' setting, but it does not resolve the orders that have more than one item.

    Solution is simple. Just add the quantity for customs declarations to the bulk update feature that is available.

  10. Please Don't Abandon the new Order Details Format

    About a week ago (and today is Oct 15 2017) you reverted back to the old format of the order details page. I'm pretty sure it's because the new format was causing all of the order pages to load too slowly. However, the new format was much better and a lot easier to read. I really like the layout and the big image for each shipping service (UPS, USPS, DHL, etc..) that was displayed.

  11. Order Notes (Custom Field 3) in new view is far too below, need to scroll down every order in order to view it

    ShipStation is using a new view today 10/9/2017, but the "Order Notes" (Customer, To Buyer, Internal, Gift, Custom Field 1, 2 & 3) is too far below the order items.
    In the old view, when we clicked into an order, we don't have to scroll down and can already see the Custom Field 3. Now we have to scroll down every order to check all Order Notes.
    Can ShipStation move the Order Notes back up?

  12. Multiple Sku Orders

    It would be extremely beneficial to show the multiple sku's rather than just say "multiple items". There is no simple way to process orders that have all the same items but contain more than one kind of sku. There could at the very least be a way to group alike multiple sku orders together.

  13. Sorting multi SKU orders

    It would be great to be able to sort orders by the Item Sku or Item Name column when there are multiple items in an order. Today there is no real sorting of those b/c it sorts on "Multiple Items" instead of the actual skus. In a perfect world, you could concatenate the SKUs alphabetically and sort on that. This would allow us to print large batches of similar orders together.

    We send many orders that have 2 skus in each order. One is a Welcome Pack and the other is one of 10-20 different SKUs. If we could sort…

  15. Make the Preset Button better!

    The dropdown list shouldn't have to be clicked a second time to disappear. 2nd click bad.The dropdown list on the package presets now needs to be clicked to open and then clicked to close. The close click is new and totally unnecessary. In the past, when a package type was chosen, the list disappeared automatically. Extra clicks get in the way of speed. Thanks

  16. tagging orders based on transit time

    I'd like to create automation rules or filters based on transit time. We ship product frozen on dry ice, so having the estimated transit time for each box would be AMAZING. I can see the estimated Fedex transit time for each order, but currently there's no way to add that to the packing slip.

  17. Show Actual Text of Notes in Orders Sheet Instead of Tooltips

    We need to look at the notes for almost every order, which means taking the time to 'hover' over 3 separate icons for every order. It would be much easier if the text of each note were part of its own separate column (from, to, internal) and each were its own column. This would save us dozens of hours of work a week.

    While I'm sure this streamlines the search feature and increases response on large order databases, unfortunately not all customers order the same way everytime.
