ShipStation’s Feedback and Fresh Ideas Forum is moving!


We have started the process of moving our ideas forum to a new home in the ShipStation Community.

As of August 4th, 2021, this Feedback and Fresh Ideas Forum is no longer accepting new ideas, votes, or comments. However, this forum will remain visible until shortly after the new Ideas board on the ShipStation Community goes live. After that date, this forum will no longer be visible.

If you would like to post an idea after August 4th but before the new Ideas board is live, we have created a temporary discussion board in the community for you to do so. Once our new Ideas board is live, our moderator will move all posts to their permanent home.

ShipStation has used this same forum since we released our very first version back in 2011. In that time, we’ve implemented hundreds of our users’ ideas! But, as our users and our product has evolved, we’ve realized the way we seek and manage our users’ feedback must evolve as well. Starting in September, all feedback and ideas discussions will take place in the Ideas board of the ShipStation Community

If you are not already a member of the ShipStation Community, please join! You can participate in user discussion boards, read exclusive community blog posts, earn rewards through community exclusive events, and much more. To join, go to community.shipstation.com and click the profile icon. You’ll be prompted to log in to your ShipStation account and then redirected back to the community where you can set your unique username and customize your profile (if you wish). Once registered, you can participate in any discussion on the community. 


What will happen to the existing Feedback and Fresh Ideas posts?


Unfortunately, we cannot move all ideas to the new Ideas forum. The posts we are not moving are being set to the  "Archived" status in this forum.


The posts we do move will maintain their statuses, voter count, comments, and link to the original poster. 

Posts we will move to the new Ideas board: 

  • All posts in Started, Planned, and In Consideration Queue statuses.
  • Some posts in the Under Review status or with no status, based on post age, recent activity, vote count, and relevance.
  • Posts that have been set to Completed within the last 12 months.

  1. Order Email to Alert Customers of Shipping Delay

    Today, my ShipStation shipment creation is down due to a Stamps.com server issues. Today is Monday, which means customer orders from Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and today are impacted and will ship and arrive late. I request a feature that improves my workflow by allowing me to automatically email customers with impacted orders, sharing with them details of the delay and assurance that their order will ship asap.

  2. Creating a label

    Being able to have a email autoatically sent EVERYTIME we create a label. For example, when we want to do an exchange, we have to search in our client database and find the one we're looking for and then create a label that isn't attached to any order. in that case, we have to email that custumer personnally to tell them that the exchange package is being sent and give them their tracking number.

    So, what we would want is that everytime a label is created, wheather it's attached to an order or not, an automatic email is sent (like…

  4. Use customer's first name only

    Add a Field Replacement option that lets you use your customer's first name instead of their first and last. It looks more personal and other companies are doing this already.

  5. Error message when order information is throttled

    Tracking not updating from ShipStation to Shopify due to error. Customer emails are not sending out with tracking information due to this. Error message: {\"errors\":\"Exceeded 3 calls per second for api client. Reduce request rates to resume uninterrupted service.\"}"

    Would like a feature similar to Amazon where ShipStation will automatically attempt to re-send marketplace notifications when they are throttled.

    Add a few more Field Replacement values in the email options. We use the email notification to notify drop shippers of an order they need to ship. Currently we can only include all the products in an order [Item List]. Please consider adding a few additional variations to this, such as [Item List Group 1],[Item List Group 2],[Item List Group 3],[Item List Group 4]. Then we can tell Shipstation in the products section which products are from group 1, group 2, etc. And then we can send the email to the vendor, and only populate products that they need to…

  7. Manual Order Creation Notifications

    Having the ability to notify customers when a manual order is created would be helpful. Especially since they would not receive an original order confirmation email from the marketplace. This would also allow my particular customers to confirm that I entered all the information correctly and make changes if necessary.

  8. Work with shipping cost data point

    Many wholesalers want to know the cost of shipping and ShipStation does not allow this data point to be worked with at all. Please add functionality to work with more data points like shipping cost & order total as field replacements.

    As it stands, for accounting reasons there is little to no reason to use ShipStation. Automation for just about anything regarding accounting of orders is just not there. This software is creating more work than it's helping with in many ways when it comes to accounting. The integration with QuickBooks is barely there. Can't do much of anything with…

  9. Allowing for multiple Customer email addresses to receive shipment notifications.

    Hello! We would like to be able to enter more than one customer email address to receive notifications when creating orders in ShipStation. This would be incredibly helpful when there are multiple individuals who would like to receive tracking (i.e. a shop owner + a shop manager/buyer). Email addresses could be separated with a "comma". We would love this feature to be added. Thank you!

  11. Send custom emails to customers not associated with movement of package

    We sell perishable products.
    We need a way to send emails to customers that notifies them of the planned shipment of their order next Monday.

    It seems to me to be a fairly straightforward programming/development task to build this into ShipStation.

    Need a way to send an ALERT for INVALID ADDRESS. I need to know via email or alerts on the automation rules setting to alert us if there is an invalid shipping address.

  13. add the ability to send customers the actual declared value on our custom template for our Shipment Notifications

    Would like to be able to send our international customers the actual declared value of the shipped item(s) on our custom template for our Shipment Notifications. International customers need to know the declared value before attempting to take delivery - so all the values match what is on record with customs. This could be done with a similar function to the already existing "SHOWCOST" function... something like "SHOWVALUE". thanks

  14. Trigger Zaps for Fulfilled Orders

    I'd like to see a Zap trigger for Fulfilled orders. Currently our orders we print a label for or ship through Shipstation trigger zaps, but they do not trigger when we have a Fulfillment entered from another system. As theoretically we're paying for those orders out of our quota when they're being fulfilled externally, I'd really like to be able to trigger Zaps with them. We have other systems that order fulfillment in SS feeds in to, and this would let us have the same process everywhere.

  15. Email selected feature (pickup orders specifically)

    It would be great if there was a feature that allowed us to select orders, and send an email to everyone based off a template. I set up a template for pick-up orders, but there isn't a way to send it manually via shipstation (only if I "ship" an order). I know that SS was not created for pickup orders, but with the changes resulting from the pandemic, it is a "delivery method" that is selected more and more, and would be a highly appreciated feature add.

    I'd like to create an automated alert where we are notified if a package has not delivered by a courier (UPS) after a set day range once the package is shipped.
