Allow the ability to specify a weight for "Your packaging"
To get accurate rates we've been adding the weights of packaging to the weights of each of our SKUs. But when multiple SKUs are ordered at once, the weight ends up being higher and we could potentially be over-charged.
If we could input weights for our packages we've created under "Your Packaging" we could input the actual weight of each SKU and could end up with more accurate order weights and shipping rates.
Thanks, everyone! The product team will review your request and you’ll hear from us once we have made a decision.

Hopefully this bumps this to the top of the list. I think everyone can benefit from this if it was implemented. There's no point in ShipStation having the ability to calculate the total item weight for an order if you can't also add your package weight.
I've even tried adding a blanket 10oz weight to every order using an order automation rule and that still didn't even work. Just got off the phone with their support and they didn't have an answer as to why it didn't work....
If they can allow the option to set custom packaging with dimensions, I don't see why connecting the custom package weight to be added automatically would be a problem.
Please implement this soon because this is one of the only features that is keeping me from scaling!

A feature to be able to add a weight value to each different package is a must. I don't know how a shipping platform can't have a feature that automatically allocates a weight for a box when a particular package is selected.
All current work arounds are not feasible when doing 1000's of orders daily.
Hey guys! Maybe you can add the package by weight on the shipping packages settings coz it's only the dimensions of the package are available. hopefully, soon you can add those settings, thank you! :)
I commented last year, but I have to comment again. This is one of the top voted requests and has been up here for about 5 years. Why is this being ignored? It's honestly insulting that the last comment from ShipStation was from the middle of 2018.
This says it was under review in 2015 - why on earth has this not been done. We just got set up on Ship Station and have been told that it is "the BEST", but the three other shipping programs I have used all have this as an option. It is insane that weight is not tied to the packages and that we have to enter it manually. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Implement this.

Would love this feature! I'm very disappointed it's not already here. Seems like a no-brainer for shipping software.

We have over 15,000 skus and orders with quantities ranging from 1 to 1000’s. There is no way we can include package weight in each of our products. This feature would greatly simplify our workflow. We could auto populate the weight and not have to weigh each package. Please implement this.

It's been 5 years since this was first posted. Is it EVER going to happen?

This is a critical component to our shipping workflow. Please make this happen!
Par for the course for Shipstation at this point. Outside of adding some new marketplaces here and there, I can't think of a single feature they've added or improved upon in many many years, especially since they got bought by Stamps.com a few years ago.
5 years and still nothing? How hard is it to add a field to the package for weight and add that to what comes in from the marketplace?

Yes, of course this should be done. I'm surprised it isn't already.
We have a lot of different boxes we use, and they all have different weights. We know what they weigh, and what the products weigh. If we could account for the weight of the packaging, then we could make a correct label automatically, without having to put anything on a scale.
The current automation to do this is too clunky and doesn't deal well with multi-box shipments.

This is ridiculous that this feature hasn't been added in yet. If Shopify can do it, Shipstation should be able to as well. Updates?

I 100% agree with Scot on this:

We have 3500 skus from 1 ounce to 50 pounds. We cannot simply add a little to each part to assist in calculating the weight of shipping box and material. ShipStation needs the functionality for users to create an inventory list of packages which would include dimensions and weight. This could simply be done by adding a few fields to the Edit Package window. Then when package is selected, that weight is added to the order product weight to get the total order weight. This feature has been requested since 2015. What is taking so long? This is simple and necessary.
In additonal, ShipStation should really take this one step further and use the product weight and dimensions information, and then calculate the best box for shipping the order based on the Package Inventory List. This is simple math.
Get this done!!!

How is this not a feature? How is this not a feature 4 years after it was requested?

Or, if you could adjust the weight up by the weight of the packaging, based on a weight criteria associated with each packaging choice. When I try to 'adjust weight' I would want it to add 1.5lbs, for instance' to the calculated content weight. Instead it just makes the whole package weigh 1.5 lbs, which is the same this as the 'set total weight to'. Why are they two choices if they do the same thing? thanks!

please allow this!
So, 4 years later and this still is an issue. Really?
