Set insurance amount for carrier in Automation Rules
In our business we have multiple forms of insurance on our shipments as we sell a lot of laptop computers and need to make sure it is safe. Within our FedEx Account we have discounted rates and special policies so we only need to apply a set amount of insurance to each package as it is cheaper to insure it for more or less than the sell price usually. The current option in Automation Rules only allows you to set the Insurance to Carrier, ShipStation Insurance or External/Other.The ability to set the amount of insurance on the shipment as well would really help us speed our shipping process and i'm sure others as well.So using a Filter to check the Order Total if it is Higher or Lower than a set price we would use Automation to adjust it to what we need.ExampleSell a product at $699.99.Order Filter: Order Total is greater than or equal to $500, Order Total is less than $1000.Automation: Insure the package with Carrier. Set insurance amount to $750.

The product team will review your request and you’ll hear from us once we have made a decision. Please post your comments back here so that others can collaborate on this as well.

Please provide an update on this feature.
"Would like to be able to default shipping insurance to 100$ and "carrier" would save a lot of time and eliminate extra insurance charges.
Would also like to be able to have set default notifications by carrier IE"online" for all ups and delivery for USPS.
We check UPS and USPS on every order and if we do not change these setting it can cost us $$ so setting defaults would be great!"

The ability to automate the insurance amount based on the order total would be outstanding.
Example 1: Insure all orders over $599.99 for 80% of the order total value.
Example 2: Insure all orders over $199.99 for 50% of the order total value. -

This is a similar functionality but it would be useful to be able to set the insurance based on a percentage as well. ex. orders over $200 are insured for 30% of the order total.

This also should include an option to REMOVE insurance since every order that come into ShipStation for us is set for the value of the order.
Though being able to set it to 0 or 100 automatically would work too.

This would definitely save time and avoid requesting other similar features (such as forcing auto-roundup to the nearest $100 on insurance), since it could then be done based on automation rules.
"Currently the way Shipstation calculates the insurance amount is based off of the total order amount including shipping price. However when buying UPS insurance yo are charged per $100. My request would be to auto-roundup to the nearest $100 when purchasing insurance."

We could really use this feature too. In our case, we insure for $100 on orders under $400 (carrier default), and we'd love to have this option in the presets as well as automation rules.

Agree!
We have a proposed solution here.
Help us vote this feature up so they can address our concerns. -

I don't understand why this should even need to be suggested as a feature. This seems more like a bug that needs to be fixed right away. Why would insured/declared value include shipping and taxes someone has paid!? That's ridiculous!

Shipstation currently has the total order value as the insured value (including shipping). We often need to change the insured value manually, but would prefer this to be automatic because it would save a lot of time
