Duplicate company name on shipping label
The return address requires the NAME field to be completed. As a company, we put our brand name (company name) in that field. However, if the COMPANY NAME field is left empty, it appears to auto-populate that on the USPS shipping labels.
I'm left with my return address looking like this:
City, State, Zip
Customer service suggested I put a period(.) in the NAME field and put my company name in COMPANY NAME, but this does not look good to my customers. Looks unprofessional.
Can you fix this?
There are two ways you can address this…
1. It’s likely you have a branding setting enabled that says “Always use Company Name on the Return Address printed on outbound labels.”
To disable this, go to Settings > Selling Channels > Store Setup. Click Edit next to the store you wish to edit and go to the branding tab. This option is a check box under the Company Name field.
2. Some users will put a different name in the Ship From Location Name field, like “Fulfillment Dept” or “Returns Dept” or similar, and then either enter the company name into the Company Name field, or rely on the branding setting mentioned above to do that (this option is so you can use multiple company names with a single Ship From Location, if needed).
Using one of these options should resolve your issue.
Keep in mind, if you ever ship using UPS (rather than USPS), UPS requires the Company Name field have a value, so you might receive a label error if you attempt to create a label without one.
