Adding ITN to UPS Shipment
Hi Shipstation Developers- Please make adding an ITN to a UPS shipment as easy and straightforward as adding ITN to USPS shipment. I have attached a photo of what the USPS ITN field looks like (red arrow) in the customs section of an order. This field is not available for UPS shipments for some reason.
(FWIW, I spent much time with a member of your support team chatting and emailing about this issue already and didn't really get anywhere. The rep was helpful but unfortunately their proposed workaround of adding the ITN to the 'ITN/Tax ID or USPS' line in Settings/Shipping/International Settings/ is problematic. First, to add an ITN to a UPS shipment, I have to click 4 times into a 'Default Setting' to enter my ITN (As you are aware, ITNs are not 'default' as they change per shipment). Once entered, the number becomes 'encrypted' and is hidden from view. There is no way to unhide this number. So I have no idea what the number currently is once I save it. Second, this number does not change back to 'nothing' or 'null' after it is used once, so it is possible that more than one order can have the same ITN if you aren't careful. For more information about what we discovered, please see request #984738.)
So again, the USPS method is great - please add this method to UPS shipments! I know these things can be easier said than done sometimes, but you've already done it for USPS so...
I vote for this as well.
This should actually be fairly easy to implement. For two reasons:
1) The GUI changes should be minimal. A check box for 'provide ITN from AESDirect' and a field to enter the ITN.
2) The UPS shipping API which I'm sure that shipstation is using already supports this, and it doesn't require a lot of additional fields. (One to say that the ITN was filed, one to say it was from AESDirect, and one to provide the ITN).
What is the work around for Fedex? I would love to have the option to add ITN to an order using any carrier besides USPS.
I would really appreciate getting this same performance for FEDEX shipments. It is a really awkward and problematic workflow right now.
Thanks for this valuable feedback! The more detail for what is being requested the better, so thank you for your photo example!
We'll keep this in mind as we move forward with updating and improving the UPS Integration.
As updating/adding features to an integration typically requires cooperation from both parties, we recommend reaching out to UPS and expressing your interest in adding this feature to ShipStation to help expedite this process.
If you know of other users that have ideas for this, or come up with more feedback please don't hesitate to post it here!
