Add inventory tracking for packaging materials
We keep track of our product inventory elsewhere, but use ShipStation to ship our products and therefore would like ShipStation to keep inventory of the boxes we use to ship products. We use the preset packages and think it's only natural to know how many we have used and how many we have left so we dont over-order boxes or know which box sizes we use more so we can place orders for them!

I am surprised that after all this time, nothing has been done to track supplies/package boxes etc. I find that at shipping would be the best time to track these things. Any update from Shipstation on this?

We just took inventory on all of our shipping boxes, and we'd like to start having ShipStation track the inventory for each box.
The dev team should create that functionality. Ie. we have 150 of our 7x5x5 boxes, so if we ship that box it goes to 149.. 148...147 etc
Maybe it can be an automation... everytime it sees that dimension in a package, it goes down a number in inventory.
Or every time it sees a certain quantity of a certain product, it knows what box will be used, and will go down a number in box inventory.
Not having this functionality is a problem because there is no easy software that warns us if we are low on boxes or other shipping supplies. It would really improve workflow.

We also need this feature very badly to help streamline our warehouse's supplies ordering.

I'm finding that a feature in ShipStation to track inventory of packaging would be SO useful! I've run into issues where we found we were out of that one little item/box/insert/sticker and then had to scramble to replace that thing ASAP. ShipStation already knows how many orders are going out and what type of order. It's also already tracking my custom package sizes -- it would be fairly simple and straightforward to add a per-product template which outlines which packaging materials are used. Then, via Insights, I could easily see where I'm running low and/or an alert could fire.
This would greatly increase our happiness with ShipStation!

This would be great! Has this been implemented yet?

We use a multitude of items when we ship out our orders. All of our shipments consist of the products ordered, a thank you card, a free sticker and the package that the order is shipped in.
Is there a way in Shipstation to track the thank you cards, stickers, etc.?
So, say we have 10,000 Thank You Cards and 8,000 Stickers, as orders come in to shipstation, those quantities would automatically be reduced. If we had 400 orders come in during 1 day, the new quantities of the Thank You Cards would be 9,600 and the Stickers would be 7,600. Or even if the quantities were reduced as orders were fulfilled.
This has been a request from Shipstation Customers since back in 2014. Hopefully, you decide to implement it, it would be another great feature/upsell and a great reason for people to use Shipstation for fulfilling their orders, over other providers.

This would be super helpful, please consider adding!
Would love this feature!
I would love to be able to enter the inventory quantity of each of the boxes/envelopes that I use so that ShipStation can track my inventory and alert me when my packaging supplies are running low.

Is there any update to this ticket? We badly need this system

Christopher, I literally just opened a support ticket about this same issue and suggested it as a feature. :)
This to me is the big "gaping" hole in Shipstation's inventory tracking. If it can deduct our finished goods when orders are fulfilled, why can't it deduct the packaging materials used?
Shipstation is the only software in the ecommerce workflow process that knows when orders are fulfilled and what boxes/packaging we are using, so it is only obvious that they need to add this, otherwise we are all literally counting our boxes manually like cave men once a week.
All things equal, I would switch solutions to another system if they had this feature, because it is an obvious requirement.
Please add this feature!!
Definitely useful. We add ice gel packs to our orders. They are heavy and influence the correct calculation of the weight of the shipment. So if either manually or by automation rules we could allocate packaging materials and then track it as per this request would be super helpful.

Has there ever been an update to this idea? Our ecommerce business would also like to figure out a shipping supplies inventory solution without having to use another inventory platform.
This would be AMAZING.
I would love to see this feature added to ShipStation. We have so many different sizes of boxes and bubble mailers.

Please consider adding the function of being able to track inventory of packaging, this would be most helpful in managing warehouses. Thank you

We use a separate excel spreadsheet and count our boxes when we are at our 3 month order mark or when we know we are getting dangerously low on multiple important size boxes. It would be very helpful if there was a way to track on here what size boxes/envelopes we are using and how many so that our ordering system wouldn't be such a huge task. If we were able to print out a report of how many of each size we used during a selected time period, we could just plug that info into our already set pivot table and have the info we need for reorder.

Is there any way that ship station can track the shipping envelopes or boxes inventory according to orders. when the quantity goes lower on envelopes then it should remind us to reorder the packaging materials. same like allocation of the inventory system in shipstaion inventory management.
