Create Automation Rules for Multiple Packages
If an order exceeds a certain weight, I'd like for there to be an automation rule that separates the shipment into multiple packages. We are a coffee company that doesn't ship anything over 40 pounds, but we regularly get orders over 40 pounds, so it would be great when we get an order like that for an automation rule to separate the order into multiple packages.
Thanks for leaving your feedback! We’ll keep this in mind; for now, if you know any other users that are interested in this feature send them here!
Two additional related ideas are to allow a column on upload of orders to apply a package set and to allow a bulk apply method to this.

Multi box automation, most of what we do are upload records and multi box orders that are the same for 10-500 orders, be great if this can be automated via SKU details, an automation rule set. having to enter multi- package details for over 10-15 orders that are identical is VERY time consuming

All of our items get shipped in their own package so this would be great. At the moment we need to manually add packages for orders with mulitple items.
We have recently improved the Scan to Verify feature to include multi-package shipping!

Does ShipStation have the ability to AUTOMATICALLY add PACKAGES to an order without manually clicking on the + symbol?

Automation rules for multipackage shipments. our products are heavy and frequently require multiple packages. Currently, there is no way to automate this

We have many products that are packaged in their box. I would like to be able to automate multiple box shipments. For example, I would tag certain products "ships standalone". Then if someone orders this product and other items shipstation would automatically select a carrier that supports multi piece shipments like Fedex. Set box 1 to the weight and dimensions of the product tagged "ships standalone" and for the second box add the remaining products.

1st Subject Dimensional Packing.
In the shipping industry, this is a feature that separates the little guys and big guys... The big companies aka Amazon who have brought this to light at another level by automating the packages/boxes you use based on the product ordered. If you want to attract Wholesalers all-round the world, this is a feature that will bring you to the next level.
The only thing missing is the ability to select your packages/boxes in the multi-pack screen. The presets are nice but in my case I have multiple boxes and its just more confusing to preset them all and change them for each order than just select the package/box.
Scan to Verify
Perfect feature...almost. The problem is I can't use multi-pack within scan-to-verify which honestly should be a more useful feature for businesses with a lot of products, which means multiple-packages/boxes will be used.
**Also scanning items to a specific box while multi-packing would be a cool addition to this feature.
Thank you for being open to customer's ideas. Bug me for more info if needed.

Like others, our company has pre-packaged units that we send out (each unit is its own parcel with its own shipping label). Being able to create automations for multi-item orders would be a big help! It's a drag having to manually configure each order for multiple packages.

We get orders with multiple qty and cant combine them so a rule for muli-package would be AMAZING!
YES!!!! This is a must have
This really needs to become a reality! We have multi-pack orders that are a royal pain to manually assign package sets to because there's no way to automate that. Would be really nice to be able to create automation rules that assign package sets based on SKU, quantity, etc.
we would like to also apply package set as an automation rule! please let us know when this is implemented.

I was looking for the same thing that would be Amazing!
This should absolutely be built in functionality. We sell large, heavy furniture items. This means that most of the times, a single SKU will ship in multiple boxes by our ground carriers. Don't even get me started on the lack of any integration with LTL freight TMS providers. Anyways, it means for every order with multiple box, single sku items, we have to manually process the shipment to add multiple boxes.
I really hope there's a way to get traction on this!

This would be very helpful for my company. All of our products are prepackaged for shipping, so having the ability to have the system automatically create multiple packages for orders would really speed things up.
When bulky items ship in their original packaging and they are always shipped by themselves there should be an option (I think at the product detail level) to mark the item that it ships by itself. This will allow an order with multiple qty to automatically make it two packages for that order.
This will make batch processing that much easier as you will not need to edit these shipments manually.
