Track Customer Order Frequency. Ability to place rules based on a customer's order
Track Customer Order Frequency. Have the ability to place rules, report on the number of orders a customer has placed. For example: Joe has placed 3 orders, he receives a free gift. Adding a step to that, the frequency a particular item/sku gets ordered.

Now that we’ve added the customer history widget into ShipStation’s new layout, we are exploring other options around this data, like the ability to trigger automated actions.
We will definitely take this feedback into consideration when planning future automation improvements.

Wow this feature request was initiated in 2015 and here we are in 2020 and people are still trying to figure this out? What is needed is simple-- A COLUMN IN ORDERS LIST THAT DISPLAYS NUMBER OF TIMES A CUSTOMER HAS ORDERED IN LAST 12 MONTHS (better if you make this customizable where it can be changed from 1 month - 12 months).
Keeping repeat customers happy is more profitable than trying to acquire new customers. Most important thing for any business to know is who are their repeat customers.

I got a way to do this.. It is more complicated than what SS could do by simply letting us putting filter based on Customer : Total order. It could be simple as : IF total order IS 1 or less Then add a Tag - New customer.
That would be a little better than what I am doing at the moment.
In order to do this:
1. Tag all your current customer as a Customer.
2. Create a Tag - New Customer
3. Create a new rule -
3.1 Only apply these actions to orders that match specific criteria
3.2 Order Tags - Are Empty
3.3 Add a Tag - New Customer. Then after each batch of new customer you have to tag them as Customer....
We are trying this.
It is not perfect.
Shipstation, You could just give us acces to : Total Order. And we will set rules that we want based of that. -

What I'd like to have is the ability to make a filter so I can add a tag for returning customers so that I can see it at a glance, or a column or something else that makes this immediately visible.
I like to thank returning customers with a note or a freebie but I can't do that if it's not visible at a glance since I can't mouse over each customer. It doesn't appear to be available as a filterable criteria. Thank you :)

As Naak said, as a starting point, even just the last 12 months would be great, and it should be an incredibly easy task for the developers. If it's their first order ever, or even in the last year minimum, I'd love to flag that order for an internal note so that we can add a special note or throw in a freebie. It's an easy undertaking that your customers have been requesting since the year after your launch....

Agreed! This upgrade and seeing columns for "Lifetime spent" and "Total Orders" would be fantastic! It will likely save me 2-4 hours each week!

I second Ruslan
It would be very helpful to be able to create a filter based on Total orders for the customer, Total Shipping orders and Gross Revenue for the customer. (even if only data for the last 12 months is being covered)
Please forward this request to the development team, I think it would enhance ShipStation greatly if implemented.

Seeing Customer History in the grid is nice and thank you for bringing it to the new interface, but it does not allow us to create filters or rules based on the Total Shipped orders or Gross revenue criteria.

This might be helpful in a very small percentage of cases, but does not actually address what people are requesting here. Having to hover/click on every order is not useful for implementing strategic management of repeat customers. This needs to be automated.

Very much need this. Just seeing if they're a repeat customer and how many times they've ordered with us. Shouldn't be too difficult to implement, but would save us so much time.

This would be fantastic!
We put different 'stuffers' and marketing materials into repeat buyers vs new customers packages. So a tagging option would be key! Thank you! -

Are you still considering this feature? This would be so helpful for us so we could customize marketing content included in packages. If we have repeat customers, we can reward them for their loyalty, and if they haven't ordered before, we can educate them about our other offerings. We think this would be incredibly helpful!

I am here for this very thing. I would like to see if a customer is new through printing out the packing slips, as we give special treatment to our new customers. As it is I have to sift through all of my orders, hover their order number to find out if they are new. We also give special codes and gifts to people who have ordered x number of times. To be able to have rules set up for this field would be very helpful.

7 years later and 217 votes, still not added. Adding an optional column to show the data you already have when you hover over the customer's name would take your IT department an hour.
We like a lot of the features your service offers however, don't pretend to listen to customers when you actually ignore them for 7 years.

YES PLEASE! Crucial for our business and will eliminate a very manual process currently.

We really NEED this feature. We produce products and if we know the customer has ordered from us before we'll pull up their layout to make sure we match the design. We just need to know they have ordered before. A simple star would suffice.

Yes, this would be a great feature! Both a number indicator in the open orders list for the number of orders placed (perhaps next to the customer name or in a column of its own), as well as an option to filter and create rules for our repeat customers based off of the number of purchases in a timeframe.
You almost have it with feature that shows customer sales history by hovering over the customer name. To have this more readily visible and filterable would be awesome!
We would love to have the tools to show our customers who come back how much we appreciate them.
Thanks

PLEASE ADD THIS - this would bypass our automation by flow if the customer is a repeater.. plus help us to determine which gift to add to order.

Why havent you guys moved on this to create a column to just put a star next to an order to indicate there are previous orders from that customer. Having to hover over the name is a paid in the butt.
