Scan and Verify Product UPC to make sure to Ship right product and Quantity
Ability to Scan and Verify the UPC code of the product get shipped for the individual order.So, this will eliminate the WRONG item being shipped and Wrong Quantity being shipped. Also "Ship Order" button activates only when the right product(s) is scanned and right quantity is scanned for the order.Products that does not come with UPC may be shipped by manually entering item SKU in the barcode scan field.
Scan to Verify and Print is now AVAILABLE in the new version of ShipStation, and also now supports product identification by UPC, SKU, or both values.
We will mark this feature complete once Scan to Verify is a standalone mode from Print.

In between the step where the last item is scanned in and the label is automatically printed, please include an option to have the actual package weight automatically captured using a USB scale and shipping cost automatically updated. If it's automated, this extra step takes virtually no added time and it can save a lot of money. If it's not automated, (both taking of the weight and updating cost) this step is likely to forgotten/skipped when packers are in a hurry.
I agree, I think the idea is to have the user require as little as possible when it comes to touching the keyboard. For example, have them be able to scan the barcode on the order. It brings up order, then scan in items. Once all items are scanned in properly, automatically print out shipping label. This is how our custom shipping solution works at the moment, and requires less training. If an error or some validation error pops up, then the user would need to interact with keyboard\mouse. It should also support custome barcodes, since regular UPC codes dont exist for unique items. We would like to base it on a barcode made from the product sku.
Agree with most of the comments above ability scan the pick ticket and bring the order to screen, then verify each item and its qty by scanning UPC codes
We totally agree with the comment that was left by indestructibledog. We defiantly need to have "Staff enters order number OR selects order" option.
Obviously we need to be able to add, edit or delete Barcodes associated with each products.
1)read barcode on packing slip (or label)
2)screen shows everything that needs to be in the package
3)scan item by item
a)if correct item, screen flashes screen and item dissappears from list (or item quantity reduced by one)
b)if incorrect item (or more scans of item than required) red screen and beep
c)repeat until nothing on list
4)insert packing slip in envelope
5) close envelope
Here's a scenario that we'd like to see:
1. Staff enters order number OR selects order OR scans barcode on packing slip to bring up order.
2. A list of the order contents is displayed in a modal window along with order quantities.
3. As the staff scans each product and places it in the box, a corresponding "verified" quantity column shows how many of each item has been scanned next to how many are supposed to be in the order.
4. In the case where there are a product doesn't have a barcode to scan, we can manually enter the product quantity in a "verified" column via a html form spinner control
5. Once every product gets verified via a scan or manual entry the modal window disappears, the order is marked are "verified" and the order is now ready to be weighed and shipped.
Essentially we do the same thing with just paper packing slips right now. We have a 'verified' quantity column and mark the product quantity in this column as we add product to the box. Before we close up the box we compare the ordered quantities against the verified and then we're good to go.

staff scan the barcode on the packing slip to bring up the contents of the customer's order.
staff find all the products in their warehouse/shop and scan the products using barcode scanner.
The software cross references the products scanned against the customer's order. If the correct item is scanned, it is ticked off.
Staff fold up the packing slip, to show the customer's delivery address and stick it in one of those document enclosed wallets and stick on customer's package.
Once the order is complete, the customer is notified, letting them know their order has been completed and is awaiting dispatch.
When the courier arrives, staff scan packing no again and this notifies the customer that the parcel has been dispatched.
Hey, everybody; we need your help in figuring out how to design this type of feature. Can you please give us some use cases of how you'd like it to function? The more information you can give us about how you need it to work will help us in working out how to develop it.
Hell if you all could add an inventory add-on I would gladly pay an additional money per month for such an add-on.
