Have different printers for international vs. domestic labels
Please enable a feature that you can choose what printer will print labels. To be more specific: we want to print International Priority and express with the regular printer and the rest of the labels in the 4x6 printer.
The product team will review your request and you’ll hear from us once we have made a decision.
Stamps.com knows how to print labels that are also customs forms. Why doesn't ShipStation have this capability?
To print an international label in ShipStation one must destroy all printer settings used for common labels and packing slips. Example:
Daily (most common) Label Printing - labels sent to Zebra 4x6 label printer / packing lists sent to 8.5" x 11.0" normal printer
For international Priority Mail, the customs forms and label are one. They cannot be printed to a 4x6 label printer (too small by postal regulations), and print settings (if set to always prompt) will also be broken because we must also change the Document Format and Document Options. This is entirely unacceptable. The above printer settings must then be reset to 8.5" x 11.0" paper and multiple labels per page. Then after printing this label we have to change the settings back to the original.
Stamps.com owns ShipStation, and Stamps.com has this capability. How can this have been overlooked in ShipStation?
Multiple Printer configurations are necessary for different types of label printing, especially international. 9 years since this was first posted? Really?

Can I add different printers/ labels depending on carrier

It's another 12 months, since your last update here, and getting dangerously close to a decade since this was first requested.
Will this be added to your roadmap?
Thanks in advance
Just chatted with support on this same issue. 4x6 labels don't work very well for international shipments that often have very small text and it looks horibble on 4x6. being able to print these on a regular printer would be ideal, since we have to put the multiple sheets in a sleeve anyway.
Hi Charity, thanks for your feedback. We are still investigating the best way to allow for automation processes to override the account-wide printing settings that ShipStation currently uses. However, we don't have any ETA on when this feature will be available.

Is there any update on this?
The international label barcodes are very small. Our printer can only print them on very slow settings. If this was implemented we could ship so much faster!

This is a great idea! We use DHL for all international orders and we get free labels from them. We are unable to use those labels, since we use USPS for domestic orders.
Users need to be able to configure ShipStation to automatically use different printers for different carriers.
This should be an easy task for one of your programmers, requiring no more than 8 hours of labor, one large bag of Cheetos and/or Funyuns, and one 12-pack of Mountain Dew. We'll be happy to donate the required munchies to have this feature built!

ShipStation absolutely needs a feature to choose printers depending on what carrier I use.
USPS shipping labels to be printed off on 1 printer. UPS shipping labels on another printer.
We get branded UPS labels for FREE, and use two different Zebra printers — one loaded with FREE UPS labels, and one loaded with labels we pay for for USPS.
ShipStation needs an automation rule for example that would send the label to a particular printer based on the carrier. Please add this feature to the system!
Coming from Endicia.com, and the Endicia Professional desktop PC software, it is a HUGE inconvenience to use ShipStation's cumbersome printing system with 3 different printers. Yes 3, because we use a laser printer for international shipments.
Please get this feature built in ShipStation! Thanks!

I just switched from endicia but GOOD GOD I am missing the fact that with endicia it knew where to SEND the print job. If it required (3) page Customs forms then it automatically went to the laser printer and it printed the forms CORRECTLY without me having to adjust the layout...if it just needed a 4x6 label then it went to the Thermal....all without me having to fuss with it.
Hi @Adam, we appreciate your active interest! We still don't have an ETA on this, but are keeping it open for consideration and brainstorming.

So was this ever implimented?

For me it would be great if I had a feature to choose printers depending on what carrier I use.
USPS shipping labels to be printed off on 1 printer
UPS shipping labels on another printer.
Please add this feature to the system.
I do see that : " spryllc shared this idea · November 29, 2011 · "

Please let us know
Hi @Christian, thanks for checking in on this one. We're still interested in this idea and we don't have a timeline on it. It isn't on our immediate roadmap but it's one we'd like to keep open for now.

An issue since 2011. Any update on this? We want integrated label and packing list on domestic, and a different configuration for international orders.
We are forced to not use integrated label pack list (wasting time matching) because we are forced to print a DHL archive copy that is thrown away.
tolerable on a sheet of blank paper, but not on a 50cent integrated label/pick list.
Yes! this would be amazing. How do I vote more than 3!?

Get this implemented already please. It would be a great time saver!
Please put this at the forefront of feature development. It is very time-consuming to have to break up my shipping process, turn off ShipStation Connect, reconfigure my print preferences, and then reset them all after printing my Priority Mail International labels.
I just printed a test EMS label on my new DYMO printer to see if it would be a one-page or multi-page customs declaration, and the small text on the label is a bit hard to read on such a small label.

I would spend up another vote or two on this one but I have to believe staff and management are already well aware of how important it is to us. I'm just commenting to keep the conversation up top. Again, here is my workaround if it helps anyone. First arrange your list of orders by country. Then setup your shipping credentials for all the International orders that require multi-page prints and add them to the same batch. Change the printer setting. Then run the batch. Change the printer back and proceed to domestic shipments.
See, even if Shipstation cannot figure out how to automagically direct labels to the correct printers, it would be so nice to be able to configure printer profile A and printer profile B and have that be selectable on the order detail page somewhere without having to back all the way out to setup, printing, click, click, click, click.
Sorry shipstation, if I leave for another vendor I will tell you right here that this lack of feature is the reason.
