Stamps.com vs Endicia
We understand the push towards Stamps.com vs Endicia. However, as a 3PL, we have some clients that already utilize Endicia, and thus we have had to altogether not allow Stamps.com, because they do not play well together in ShipStation.
Even if our default account is an Endicia, if we have a Stamps.com as a supplementary account (or for example, that belongs to a specific client of ours), it will default to the Stamps.com. That does not work, because it needs to default to whatever account we set as default, regardless of which carrier that is, not automatically default to Stamps.com which may only be used for certain shipments.
If the default worked properly, we actually have clients that would use Stamps.com, but since it does not, we have been switching Stamps.com customers to Endicia - obviously a negative effect of what ShipStation is going for.
When creating labels with either Endicia or Stamps.com, do you have your account setup to display the carrier services based on Postage Provider or Carrier?
Using Postage Provider will allow you to see both Endicia and Stamps.com as the postage provider option when creating a label.
Thanks for the reply. Our setting is by Carrier, not Label Provider. We are a 3PL, and only ever use one label provider per customer. So if our shipping person opens order 12345 for customer A in store XYZ, our ShipStation rules are set so that the Shipping Account automatically chosen for that order is customer A's postage account. In the Service list, they can choose First Class, Priority Mail, etc as needed.
The issue with setting the Service list by Label Provider, is this introduces more risk for error, since there are two First Class options shown, two Priority Mail options shown, etc (one for Endicia, one for Stamps). Since they never need to choose between these, as our clients only ever have Endicia OR Stamps, this adds risk with no added benefit.
And since we list by Carrier, if we do have a Stamps.com account loaded to our ShipStation, even though Endicia is listed as our default USPS provider in ShipStation, and even though our automation rules tell each order which postage account to use, it will default to Stamps.com anyways, shipping customer A's orders which is supposed to go on customer A's Endicia account, on customer B's Stamps.com account instead.
Our only feasible workaround has been to not use Stamps.com at all, and convert all of our clients to Endicia, so that only Endicia is an option. We would like to be able to offer both however, if possible.
