Email when order placed on hold
I would like to have an email sent to the customer when placing an order on hold, and assign that action a template that includes the Hold Until variable so they know we are holding til the date they requested.
Hi @Eric, thanks for posting this! We’ll keep this in mind when improving our email templates and the On Hold function. For now, we’d like to see what other shippers think about this.

Yes please! I would love to be able to regularly (and easily) send an email to all customer orders saying "thank you for your patience" with an estimated ship date (hold until date). I recently received an email like this from a company with whom I had purchased. It kept my purchase at the top of my mind and I never felt like I needed to email them for an update - this would save my company A LOT of time!

I have tried to create an automation rule that takes the estimated ship date input from Custom Field 2 and inserts that into an email template. I have not been able to get the emails to send out for some reason though.
@ps2idhu Thanks for the follow up. But I don't see how thats possible, can you post a screenshot of your automation rule? The hold field isn't a selectable filter to use to trigger an email for me.
Just dropping in to let you know, I currently do this for my customers. Every order that I put on hold, I have generated a rule in which shipstation sends an automical email notifying the order is on back order, and will be shipped at a later date.
You can do so by creating an autmation rule! (you need to create an email template of what you would say to the customer )
