ShipStation’s Feedback and Fresh Ideas Forum is moving!


We have started the process of moving our ideas forum to a new home in the ShipStation Community.

As of August 4th, 2021, this Feedback and Fresh Ideas Forum is no longer accepting new ideas, votes, or comments. However, this forum will remain visible until shortly after the new Ideas board on the ShipStation Community goes live. After that date, this forum will no longer be visible.

If you would like to post an idea after August 4th but before the new Ideas board is live, we have created a temporary discussion board in the community for you to do so. Once our new Ideas board is live, our moderator will move all posts to their permanent home.

ShipStation has used this same forum since we released our very first version back in 2011. In that time, we’ve implemented hundreds of our users’ ideas! But, as our users and our product has evolved, we’ve realized the way we seek and manage our users’ feedback must evolve as well. Starting in September, all feedback and ideas discussions will take place in the Ideas board of the ShipStation Community

If you are not already a member of the ShipStation Community, please join! You can participate in user discussion boards, read exclusive community blog posts, earn rewards through community exclusive events, and much more. To join, go to community.shipstation.com and click the profile icon. You’ll be prompted to log in to your ShipStation account and then redirected back to the community where you can set your unique username and customize your profile (if you wish). Once registered, you can participate in any discussion on the community. 


What will happen to the existing Feedback and Fresh Ideas posts?


Unfortunately, we cannot move all ideas to the new Ideas forum. The posts we are not moving are being set to the  "Archived" status in this forum.


The posts we do move will maintain their statuses, voter count, comments, and link to the original poster. 

Posts we will move to the new Ideas board: 

  • All posts in Started, Planned, and In Consideration Queue statuses.
  • Some posts in the Under Review status or with no status, based on post age, recent activity, vote count, and relevance.
  • Posts that have been set to Completed within the last 12 months.

    Klaviyo is a tool that makes personalized marketing a breeze through data-driven decision making. In the past, only massive companies had the resources to create highly personalized messaging. Klaviyo brings those capabilities with an intuitive interface that a one-person startup can easily manage, to more detailed customization a large or enterprise company can develop with their marketing team.

    They do have an unofficial integration with us at this time through Zapier https://zapier.com/apps/klaviyo/integrations/shipstation

  2. Rate Calculator on V3 Scan and Verify Label Creator

    The biggest game changer in V3 is the Scan and Verify feature. This alone is helping us to make the decision to stay with SS after making the decision to leave because this feature is so crucial to eliminating misshiped orders.

    Just one down side, the ability to check rates in real time is no longer available during label creation in the Scan and Verify screen and that feature alone is priceless.

    I have attached two images displaying how V2 has the option during label creation and how V3 does not have that option in the same checkout process.

  3. Shipstation get calls update for Magento 2.3

    This is not an idea, but an issue we are having with shipstations api and magento 2.3.3.

    Shipstations api is not pulling in magento 2.3.3's new get calls for order notes.

    Prior to magento 2, the order notes came in as the get call "getCustomerNote" and every update note after that.

    The new get call in Magento 2.3 for any new order notes after the initial "getCustomerNote", is "getStatusHistories".

    Shipstation's api needs to be updated to pull in these calls from Magento 2.3

    How this affects our workflow is.. if a customer places an order, and our team finds it…

    We’ve updated the plugin so order notes should successfully import on your Magento orders again. The 2.2.7 plugin will be available on the Magento marketplace later today.

    If you continue to experience issues with Magento order notes after updating the plugin, please open a support ticket so we can troubleshoot with you further.

    This option is now available in ShipStation V3!

    Go to Other Actions > Export Orders. Then, select the option to export line items. You can create the custom export formats just like you did in ShipStation Legacy (if you had any saved export formats, you should see them there as well).

  7. Bring Back 1-Time Print Setting Override on Order Details Page

    In the past, you used to allow a 1-time print settings override by holding down the Create Label button. This would bring up the Settings box and you could choose a differnt setting for that particualr label. Now the easiest way is to create the label with your Remembered Selection, then go to the Shipments tab, check the box for the shipment and there you can go to Print, then hold down the Labels selction in the pulldown menu. This is a waste of time and paper.

    We normally print to label, so prefer to have that setting Remebered, but…

  8. show store with combine order alerts

    In the Alert to review orders that can be combined due to same address, show the store/stores the order is coming from in the view without having to select the customer and leave the alerts section. Not all stores need the orders combined, and this would make combing through them much faster until there is an automation.

    You can now view more details about orders ShipStation has identified as possible candidates for combining.

    In ShipStation’s new layout (formerly called ShipStation V3) there is an Order Alerts > Combine Shipments option in the Orders tab left-hand sidebar. Click Combine Shipments to see a list of all the alerts (these will be listed by recipient name). To view the actual orders to combine, click the recipient name and ShipStation will open a grid that shows all the orders along with the same columns you typically see in your Awaiting Shipment screen. If the Store column isn’t visible, click the columns button to add it and you will then see which store each order came from (the column selection will remain until you disable it, so you only need to take that step once).

  9. V3 shipment data export preset

    In V3, there's no longer preset options when exporting shipment data. Please allow saved export presets again for V3. The current method of exporting the data format by choosing the columns in the Shipment view is not sufficient as there were custom fields in our V2 preset that are not available as a column option in V3.

    We have now added the custom formats to the shipment export feature. In the Export Shipments pop-up, click Create New Format (just as in the Legacy Layout) to create and save your preset. Additionally, any saved export formats you created in ShipStation Legacy have been migrated into V3.

  10. Import Customer Comments in Magento

    Any comments that the customer leaves to the order, can it be mapped from Magento 2 store to ShipStation in the order details.
    Can you please add an attribute in the ShipStation Plugin API to map Customer Comments in the Order details from Magento 2 store into ShipStation?

    The 2.2.7 ShipStation plugin for Magento should properly import customer and internal notes from Magento to ShipStation’s corresponding fields.

    If you upgrade the plugin but still do not see your order notes import, please open a ticket with our support team so we can troubleshoot with you further.

  11. no suburb option for Australia accounts

    You really must add a suburb field in the customer/recipient widget.

    In Australia, a postcode is not adequate to define where a delivery goes because there are multiple suburbs with the same postcode.

    Apologies for being a little late on this update. We have actually added the Suburb field to the recipient address modal and “New Order” modal in ShipStation. Suburb will appear instead of “City” when Australia is selected as the country (see attached images).

    This is also going to be updated for the Ship From Address field in the coming weeks.

    Shipstation does not import customer phone numbers from a BigCartel store? Any chance to get this resolved?

  13. Transfer Shopify Tags to Shipstation

    We offer retail and wholesale orders on our site. We organized out wholesale orders on Shopify through tags. It would be very nice if all of our wholesale tags were able to transfer from Shopify into Shipstation tags. That way our fulfillment team could know which orders to package differently.

  14. group by function for new views

    As a former T2 manager i understand updating UI/UX etc and even used to build dahsboards very similar to these....A for effort, but i can't use the new layout at all without a "Group By" function. this exists in the old view and is very detrimental to keeping order processing consistent, organized and efficient. I have attached an example from the old page views.

  17. Additional Views/Filtering for stores

    We have multiple users who looks after certain stores, the only way our users can see their stores is by selecting the view we have made. Currently we are limited to only 5 views that apply to all accounts but we need 8+.

    Having the ability to:
    - have more views than 5
    - set a view for each user rather than having it apply to all accounts
    - easier way to filter for more stores at once rather than scrolling through store list e.g. search bar on filter & way to save the search (see picture attached)

  18. Remove the vote limit from this feedback section

    I am trying to list all the bugs I have found while working on ShipStation, but I ran out of votes. This is a terrible idea to limit the amount of posts that can be created.

    Voting doesn't seem to help, there are plenty of ideas opened 3 years ago that are still open.

Any feedback about features or functionality that do not currently exist are going to be best addressed by posting here- on the Feedback Forums.

    That being said, we have reviewed your feedback and have doubled the votes allotted for each user so we can continue to empower everyone to have their voice heard. If you do run out of votes you can always add your feedback by commenting on an existing idea in the forums as we do take both comments and votes into consideration when reviewing ideas.

    ShipStation added the multi-package ability to the Scan to Verify & Print feature in March of 2021. If the selected carrier supports multipackage shipping, you can create a multipackage shipment in the Scan pop-up.

  20. ShipperHQ Integration

    Our product mix includes an even split between products that ship small parcel and products that ship via an LTL freight carrier. We need to be able to provide live shipping rates within the BigCommerce checkout experience which is most easily done through an application called ShipperHQ. The challenge is that there is not currently an integration between ShipperHQ and Shipstation that would allow us to offer our Shipstation UPS rates to customers within checkout. This shouldn't be that difficult to do via API. Please consider adding this integration.
