Product Feedback & Fresh Ideas

ShipStation’s Feedback and Fresh Ideas Forum is moving!

We have started the process of moving our ideas forum to a new home in the ShipStation Community.

As of August 4th, 2021, this Feedback and Fresh Ideas Forum is no longer accepting new ideas, votes, or comments. However, this forum will remain visible until shortly after the new Ideas board on the ShipStation Community goes live. After that date, this forum will no longer be visible.

If you would like to post an idea after August 4th but before the new Ideas board is live, we have created a temporary discussion board in the community for you to do so. Once our new Ideas board is live, our moderator will move all posts to their permanent home.

ShipStation has used this same forum since we released our very first version back in 2011. In that time, we’ve implemented hundreds of our users’ ideas! But, as our users and our product has evolved, we’ve realized the way we seek and manage our users’ feedback must evolve as well. Starting in September, all feedback and ideas discussions will take place in the Ideas board of the ShipStation Community

If you are not already a member of the ShipStation Community, please join! You can participate in user discussion boards, read exclusive community blog posts, earn rewards through community exclusive events, and much more. To join, go to community.shipstation.com and click the profile icon. You’ll be prompted to log in to your ShipStation account and then redirected back to the community where you can set your unique username and customize your profile (if you wish). Once registered, you can participate in any discussion on the community.

What will happen to the existing Feedback and Fresh Ideas posts?

Unfortunately, we cannot move all ideas to the new Ideas forum. The posts we are not moving are being set to the  "Archived" status in this forum.

The posts we do move will maintain their statuses, voter count, comments, and link to the original poster.

Posts we will move to the new Ideas board:

  • All posts in Started, Planned, and In Consideration Queue statuses.
  • Some posts in the Under Review status or with no status, based on post age, recent activity, vote count, and relevance.
  • Posts that have been set to Completed within the last 12 months.

  • Hot ideas
  • Top ideas
  • New ideas

  1. default packing slip

The default packing slip should be editable or a custom packing slip should be able to be set as the default slip. Switching every order individually or as a bulk action is an added unnecessary step and can pose an avenue for an easily made mistake when there is consistently rotational labor using the application.

  2. Multiple Package Presets

It would be helpful to be able to use the presets for packages when having Multiple Packages, vs having to enter dimensions each time. You can have preset packages for single package shipments, why not multiple package shipments.

  3. Translate the dashboard/admin in French

It would be great if there was a setting in the User Profile to see the administration part of ShipStation in French. Along with all the different parts available for admin and customers.

ShipStation has added multi-language support (for Spanish and French, with more languages to come) in the new layout (formerly called V3).

Just go to the profile icon in your account and choose Language (you can also set the language in the log in screen). You can then select which language you’d like to use. This setting is user specific and will remain even when you log out and back in, until you change back to a different language.

  4. Integrate Amazon Buy Shipping - FedEx One Rate

Amazon recently integrated FedEx One Rate into their shipping API. Please help make this connection so we ship these through shipstation instead of Amazon's order page.

    [Useful information from Amazon]
FedEx One Rate will not show as an available service unless the package dimensions input exactly match one of the FedEx One Rate standard sizes. If these dimensions match, a FedEx One Rate quote will appear. FedEx One Rate packages are available in the following sizes:

    Package name Dimensions (L x W x H)
    Envelope 1 9.50 x 12.50 x 0.50 inches
    Envelope 2 9.50 x 15.50 x 0.50 inches…

FedEx One Rate services are available to use in ShipStation. If you do not see them appear in the Service menu, make sure you have enabled the One Rate services in Settings > Shipping > Carriers & Fulfillment. Click the Services link next to your Amazon Buy Shipping account to enable or disable the available services in ShipStation. Once saved, the enabled services should appear in your Service drop-down menu for your orders.

This option has been added to ShipStation’s new layout (formerly called ShipStation V3). When the order contains one line item, or when a split shipment contains only one line item (regardless of quantity), the “Click to save as shipping defaults for this product” appears in the configure shipment widget.

  6. I recently started using the scan to verify function in ship station. This option works really well however it does not have the rate browse

I recently started using the scan to verify function in ship station. This option works really well however it does not have the rate browser that the traditional shipping method has. Is there anyway to activate that so it appears when using the scan to verify function?

  7. Prevent Double Printing

We would love to have a pop-up to prevent a batch from being printed more than once. Over the past 3 months, we have had 3 instances with 3 different employees printing a batch twice. This resulted in all orders from these batches being sent out twice, so we paid double for shipping and cost of the products for all of these orders. This happened because the tiny "mark when printed" checkbox was not checked when it was printed the first time. A pop-up to say something like "This batch has already been printed. Do you want to print it…

  8. Update Product weight and UPC while Shipping

Please have a button or way to save product weight while processing shipments so we do not have to go into the product database or import the product details separately to update new items or correct incorrect items.

For example, manufacturer has all the weights at 16oz, but really several are 15. This can make the difference of a couple dollars per shipment. Another example, Excel removed a leading 0 on UPC and it isn't scanning correctly. This would allow us to update product details on random items MUCH faster without disrupting the flow of shipping.

    It can be limited…

This is now possible in ShipStation’s new layout!

When you are working on an order, you can open the Product Details from the Orders Details by clicking on the product name.

In the Product Details, you can enter the weight (and other details, like UPC) and then click the option “Apply Changes to Open Orders” before saving the change.

This will then apply the weight – or other product detail – you just entered to all other orders that contain that product and are still in the Awaiting Shipment status.

ShipStation will also apply these details (called Product Defaults) to orders containing that product as soon as they import from your selling channels.

  9. Add Priority Mail Regional and Flat Rate Pricing to Rate Calculator

Add Priority Mail Regional and Flat Rate pricing to Rate Calculator. Sometimes the cubic / general PM rates are significantly different from the Regional Rate pricing, and it would be useful to see this in one place rather than memorize zone pricing or have to change the package type each time.

The Regional and Flat Rate options now appear as service options in the Rate Calculator in ShipStation’s new layout (formerly called V3).

If you are using ShipStation Legacy, you will need to migrate to the new layout to take advantage of this improvement.

  10. Bring back the total of products in the sidebar when selecting multiple orders

In the previous version of Shipstation, when you would select multiple orders you would get a quick view of the total of each product in the sidebar.

In the new version of Shipstation when you select multiple orders you get a breakdown of each product in an order instead of the total of products in the selection.

The old way was very useful for getting quick product totals for multiple orders. I would like to see an option to toggle between the current view (breaking down each product in an order) and the old way of displaying the total amount…

  11. (Shopify & Shipstation) Allow Mapping of (Shopify) Order Tags to (Shipstation) Custom Fields

I need to create an automation where orders tagged "internal" in Shopify are not imported into ShipStation. We need this functionality!

  12. Bring back order history hover function

In the old version, you could hover over a customer's order and see their order history with hyperlinks to view what products they ordered and when. This was a very useful tool for us. We'd like to see this information come back as currently the advanced search isn't very good at all and takes too many steps that slow down work flow significantly. Thanks

  13. Add "Packing Slip Printed" column to Orders section

The Shipments section has this column available, but it would be helpful to also have this in Orders. It would make open orders more scannable (by eye) and sortable based on the print status.

For example... If a customer wants to change their order, and we see the packing slip has been printed, we know it's being picked and we need to stop it before it ships. And so on.

  14. Scan to verify logs

It'll be great to record and view a log of when and who completed a verified scan and the ability to export the report if an audit is required to show proof the correct product and qty was sent.

  15. Country selection filter closes after each country selected

We have to use the country selection filter multiple time a day, but we need to select different countries for each time. After clicking a country in the drop-down, it closes and we have to click it again and scroll from the top again. It would be good if it doesn't close after selecting one, and maybe even a quick search at the top to also filter it. Current method is very time consuming.

  16. Scan To Verify Search Fields

When using the Scan To Verify function, when we scan the packing slip it pulls up the order but then doesn't automatically move to the next search field (Search for UPC). Therefore when we scan the packing slip we have to physically click into that field and then begin scanning the products. This is difficult for our warehouse staff because their scanning station is some distance away from the computer. Ideally it would be useful to be able to scan products from a mobile device but this is also unavailable on ShipStation. Therefore we are trying to make it work…

  17. Scan to print show more order details or allow a brief summary of the order

Currently we're in the process of trying to handle orders going on_hold very close to the time where a packer is to pull up the order in ShipStation via scan to print. I'd like for the packer to be able to see either order tags, a summary of order information and the order status so they can decipher whether or not they should be finalizing the shipping of the package and ultimately the order they are managing. So far there is no other way other than to train our personnel to stop using Scan to Print and to resort to…

  18. ** URGENT ** DW1 Royal Mail service - integration required by 31st March

This is an enforced service change from Royal Mail. All customers using the PS9 service must use the DW1 service as from 1st April. Please integrate the DW1 (INTL Standard Sort 2) service ASAP. Thanks

  19. Scan to verify and print internals note and stopping an order to be processed

Let me just say that I just found this tool and I really like it. I really think my team will be able to use it. However, there is something missing before I can present it to my team. We need a way to make it so an order cannot be processed on this tool, or the internal notes, tags and wrong address warning can be visible. If a customer asked us to put there order on hold, at the moment, if we used the scan tool, there would be no way for my team to see an internal note…

  20. quickship

Using Quickship has greatly sped things up in our order processing, but we occasionally encounter issues with warnings being hidden. For example, If an order is canceled by the customer while it is in the process of being picked/shipped, it can still be shipped out since the canceled warning is hidden by using Quickship. This results in additional work and costs for us.

There is a long list of potential errors that are hidden by using Quickship: https://help.shipstation.com/hc/en-us/articles/208740268-How-do-I-skip-the-warnings-I-get-while-I-m-creating-a-shipping-label-

It would be nice to be able to either have the ability to select warnings to handle as errors or at least…
