ShipStation’s Feedback and Fresh Ideas Forum is moving!


We have started the process of moving our ideas forum to a new home in the ShipStation Community.

As of August 4th, 2021, this Feedback and Fresh Ideas Forum is no longer accepting new ideas, votes, or comments. However, this forum will remain visible until shortly after the new Ideas board on the ShipStation Community goes live. After that date, this forum will no longer be visible.

If you would like to post an idea after August 4th but before the new Ideas board is live, we have created a temporary discussion board in the community for you to do so. Once our new Ideas board is live, our moderator will move all posts to their permanent home.

ShipStation has used this same forum since we released our very first version back in 2011. In that time, we’ve implemented hundreds of our users’ ideas! But, as our users and our product has evolved, we’ve realized the way we seek and manage our users’ feedback must evolve as well. Starting in September, all feedback and ideas discussions will take place in the Ideas board of the ShipStation Community

If you are not already a member of the ShipStation Community, please join! You can participate in user discussion boards, read exclusive community blog posts, earn rewards through community exclusive events, and much more. To join, go to community.shipstation.com and click the profile icon. You’ll be prompted to log in to your ShipStation account and then redirected back to the community where you can set your unique username and customize your profile (if you wish). Once registered, you can participate in any discussion on the community. 


What will happen to the existing Feedback and Fresh Ideas posts?


Unfortunately, we cannot move all ideas to the new Ideas forum. The posts we are not moving are being set to the  "Archived" status in this forum.


The posts we do move will maintain their statuses, voter count, comments, and link to the original poster. 

Posts we will move to the new Ideas board: 

  • All posts in Started, Planned, and In Consideration Queue statuses.
  • Some posts in the Under Review status or with no status, based on post age, recent activity, vote count, and relevance.
  • Posts that have been set to Completed within the last 12 months.

  2. Order Delivery Notification Feed through Klaviyo API

    I would like to see the Ship Station Integration with Klaviyo be upgraded to include "Order Delivered" tracking.

    As of now, the delivery information is not fed through to Klaviyo and it hinders our ability to set up email communications correctly.

    Because of the ever-changing status of the pandemic, shipping and lead times are not consistent. This means that triggering flows and emails off of the existing "Order Shipped" event is not enough. Having "Order Delivered" would enable us to trigger these emails off of when the customer receives the package, avoiding confusion for them, and making our communication more…

  3. Adding Photos Of Customer Orders To Notifications

    Having the ability to add photos to customer orders will help in multiple ways including:

    • Loss mitigation (customers saying they never received part of their order)
    • Customer trust (customer can clearly see that your business is reputable and sending what they ordered)
    • Warehouse management (are warehouse members packing orders correctly, using the correct supplies etc)

    Ideally would need to be a simple ability to add photos to keep speed and efficiency up, but this would really make ShipStation a standout

  4. Allowing for multiple Customer email addresses to receive shipment notifications.

    Hello! We would like to be able to enter more than one customer email address to receive notifications when creating orders in ShipStation. This would be incredibly helpful when there are multiple individuals who would like to receive tracking (i.e. a shop owner + a shop manager/buyer). Email addresses could be separated with a "comma". We would love this feature to be added. Thank you!

  5. Manual Order Creation Notifications

    Having the ability to notify customers when a manual order is created would be helpful. Especially since they would not receive an original order confirmation email from the marketplace. This would also allow my particular customers to confirm that I entered all the information correctly and make changes if necessary.

    Be able to have emojis in email templates. Having a package arrive is exciting... plain text is not.

  8. Send a second email indicating update to shipment

    The idea here is when you possibly ship/print the label. instantly the customer gets an email. Well it would be nice if you made a change to that shipment, because you voided it or whatever it may be. that when you reship that package, that the second email would be sent over with a different message in the realm of: "your package has been updated, please find your new tracking number here"

    "Notes from Buyer" Is not currently supported to be mapped over from Magento into Shipstation. We need this available because customers say shipping related inquires that we need. Like "PACK WELL" or "LEAVE AT BACK DOOR!"

  10. Notification to Customer When Order is Fulfilled prior to Tracking or Pickup

    There is a lot of confusion when customer receive an email with tracking information and the order physically has not shipped. Customer's fear the order was in-transit far to long affecting their perishable products. This causes increase communication for Customer Service Teams and loss of revenue for vendors who sell perishable items or temperature sensitive items. Having a trigger send when the order has been picked and push the notification to shopify that it has been fulfilled. Triggering the 1st email communciation. Then a second trigger only when FedEx scans the package for pickup pushing the tracking notification to Shopify.…

  11. Support for multiple customer email addresses

    When invoices from QuickBooks Online are synced with ShipStation, if the invoice has multiple customer email addresses, these addresses are forwarded to ShipStation as a comma separated list. When ShipStation encounters a comma separated list of email addresses, ShipStation does not send an email to any of the customers.

    There are two acceptable behaviors. Ideally, ShipStation should send an email to all the customers in the list. If ShipStation only wants to send one email, the send email to the first customer on the list. The current behavior of not sending any email is not a good alternative.

  12. Remove fake tracking number from customer notification

    When you buy a label for an untracked service, shipstation assigns a tracking number that does not work with the carrier. It sends this information to the customer who then contacts me and says - why can't I track this. It is an untracked service so no tracking number should be sent to them. Creates a lot of unnecessary customer service. :)

  13. Error message when order information is throttled

    Tracking not updating from ShipStation to Shopify due to error. Customer emails are not sending out with tracking information due to this. Error message: {\"errors\":\"Exceeded 3 calls per second for api client. Reduce request rates to resume uninterrupted service.\"}"

    Would like a feature similar to Amazon where ShipStation will automatically attempt to re-send marketplace notifications when they are throttled.

    hyperlink the tracking number sent over to klayvio in the intregration. It currently only sends the tracking number.

  15. Additional email trigger

    In addition to the 2 branded email options (Shipped and Delivered), we would like to see a 3rd option that could trigger from certain metrics in ShipStation such as In Queue, Shipped, or Delivered after a defined period of time. Example: After a shipment has been [delivered] wait n days and send out a welcome notification (or an additional branded template).

  16. Customer Facing Tracking for WooCommerce

    It would be great if the WooCommerce ShipStation integration supported customer tacking to sync to where a customer could log in on our site and view their orders details.

    In addition, it would make sense to at least have an API call so this could be custom developed.

    As I understand it neither of these options are available. The only thing I can do is email customers the tracking info.

    It would take another WooCommerce Plug in and I would manually have to key the tracking info in, for my customers to have visibility within our site.

  18. Create new shipping methods

    Create Custom Shipping Methods

    This would be most helpful communicating with our customers and our employees. If I could create a Custom/New Shipping method to Mark as Shipped.
    For Example- If I ship with SAIA I can choose SAIA Just as I would Fedex, Resulting in a Clickable Link and a Useable Tracking Number for our customer. We could create "profiles" or methods for any custom Carrier allowing us to also insert a link to the companies website-based Tracking Tools

  20. Curb side / in store pickup status relayed to customer.

    Update the customer on the status of their curb side order. When it's been picked, built, ready for pick-up, etc. Same workflow as shipped orders.
