  1. give us a way to create a "bill of goods" for SKU's that are kits

A lot of the SKU's we sell are actually kits of several different items bundled together (example - 200 current comic book bags and boards). Given the current limitations of eBay/Amazon/Shipstation, we are forced to create mutant SKU's for kits like that (for example, this SKU might be something like 2-PACKS-CUR / 2-PACKS-BBCUR, which means 2 packs of current bags and 2 packs of current boards). This isn't the best way to sell kitted items. Most good inventory systems allow you to create a "bill of goods" that will show up underneath a kit SKU. For example, this would show…

Hi @Daniel, currently, our product team is still reviewing ways that this could be implemented. As we continue reviewing this request, any feedback or insight you all have on how your current integrations with ShipStation pass item-level information on kits/bundles will greatly help us to best find how we can support this within our system with the best account-wide support for any and all marketplaces sending these Bill of Goods over to us.

  2. Use Shipstation to manage SHIPPING MATERIALS!

Today we use Shipstation's workflow engine to make shipping box/envelope decisions for us. As an example, if an order comes in that is below 13oz, it would go into a "custom 13oz box" and if it's between 14-16oz it goes into another, and on and on. This has become a fully baked solution for us, and it's working great.

Where we stumble on this is that we have no place to manage our shipping MATERIALS. Not inventory, per se, but actually the count of the boxes, tape, bubble wrap, and such. Maybe it's not worth managing, but for us, if…

Thanks for letting us know your thoughts. We see a lot of value in your idea and we would like to know more on your current workflow when managing the inventory of shipping materials.

Once we can gather more feedback from our users with this need and do some research ourselves, the product team will review your request and you’ll hear from us once we have made a decision.

  3. Import field for Alias SKUs

I was really happy to see support for Alias SKUs in the product update today! We have a very large number of these (enough that manually inputting them is nearly impossible) and would love to be able to have them included as a field in the product import. Is this planned?

Thanks for your input! You’re right that we currently do not have a way to import alias SKUs in bulk, but we recently enhanced our combine product feature to also allow you to create aliases. When you click “Combine” from the Products page, you’ll see something a little different now.

Check out this article for more information: https://help.shipstation.com/hc/en-us/articles/205900498

For now, we’ll keep this request open and in addition to Dave La Chasse Blank Apparel’s comment, please let us know what your situation looks like today and what you’re looking to accomplish!

  4. Import and export product description and other attributes

I would like the ability to import and export product attributes like product description, image url, etc.

  5. low stock against threshold inventory report

The current low inventory report does not show items that have 0 stock. It only shows if it have >=1. This makes the report useless as a check on what you need to reorder as its just as important, if not more so, to see the products we have no stock of.

  7. Warehouse Location Bulk Update

@shipstation we are getting ready to implement Shopify, which creates a new record for every item. every size, and every variant. That means if we have two shirts go live every day, it will create up to 35 unique records in Shipstation. Updating these manually or via .csv upload is simply not feasible.

  8. "Your Packaging": lots of package types but no good way to assign them

We use lots of different packaging for our products: polys, bubbles, and boxes each with their own sizes. Since we deal with so many products it is hard for our shippers to keep track of which type of packaging to use for a some products. Currently, ShipStation allows "Your Packaging" to be set for each product as the default packaging--exactly what we want. However, this is only available by going to each product individually in the user interface and setting it manually. Add in that we have 4000 different products that we ship regularly and you begin to see our…

  10. Not all Shipped Items are Showing in Shipping Reports

When trying to use the SHIPPED ITEMS report, I discovered that a large order that went out the previous week was not included in this report. After speaking with your rep via chat, it was discovered that because we marked the order "shipped" manually, it isn't included in the report.

This makes the SHIPPED ITEMS report useless.

Can you please include ALL shipped items regardless of how they were shipped? (this one happened to go out via truck)

  11. Product Detail Automation

We create and post for sale at midnight every day 4 new items ( 2 items with 2 variants each). Is there a way to create an automation rule that on import of the first order of each new item is assigned a warehouse location (essentially the date -- ex: 041817) and a preset group is applied?

Hi @ChaneyC, thanks for bringing this to our attention! Unfortunately there’s not a way to automatically apply warehouse locations to your products. While we wait for other users to chime in, here’s how you might be able to do this today:

However if you know what your products will be and what the warehouse locations will be, you can create the product records in ShipStation by importing a CSV file into your products page.

Here’s more information on how to import products: https://help.shipstation.com/hc/en-us/articles/205900478

  12. Provide option to add package dimensions and weights at variant level

We have setup each SKU as 1-pack, 2-pack and 12-packs variants. We also have a package defined for the 12-pack. It would be conveinent to define the dimensions of the package and weight at the 12-pack variant level. At the time of order creation, as we add many 12-pack variants across SKUs, it should add multiple 12 pack packages to the order. Right now there is way either to process this using an automation rule or product / shipping presets to quickly process orders. This is possible only through a manual entry. Imagine an order with 12 SKUs with varying…

  13. Uniquely identify inventory by product name rather than sku.

Currently when I try to import my products into the inventory section it will only import one product if multiple items share the same sku. You can set it up so that the product page uniquely identifies each item by listing name, but for the inventory you can not. We use the sku mostly as a way to locate the item, not to uniquely identify it.
