The ShipStation Feedback Forum collects your ideas and allows you to vote and comment on other ideas so our product team can understand what new features are most important to you or what business challenges we need to address next.

Everyone has 20 votes to spend on ideas that are important to them (but you can comment as much as you like). 

While all ideas will get reviewed, it's simply not possible for all ideas to make it onto the product roadmap. The more activity an idea has, however, the more likely it is to be considered. So, be sure to check if your idea has already been posted so you can add your votes and comments to it! 

Suggestions for Writing a Great Idea Post

  • Write a title to succinctly summarize your post. Other users should be able to identify if their idea is similar to yours just by reading the title so they will know to vote and comment on it!
  • Explain the problem you are trying to solve and what you think should be added or changed in ShipStation to solve this problem. 
  • Describe how you would use this feature or how you think it should function to serve your need.
  • Attach a screenshot to help illustrate your point. 
  • Put the idea in the category that best fits what you are trying to accomplish (for example: Order Management, Insights & Reporting, or Printing & Documents).

What to Expect With an Idea 


Our moderators will regularly review posts to ensure:
    • They are categorized in a logical way. If not, they may move them to the proper category. 
    • The title accurately reflects the idea content so others can understand. If not, they may edit the post title to help others identify posts they want to vote and comment on.
    • That posts are really ideas and not bug reports or issues that require contacting our support team. 
    • That any request that has an existing solution or can be accomplished with existing features gets a response to let everyone know a solution or feature already exists and how to learn about it.
Our moderators will also update the statuses of posts as they are considered by our product team. If an idea makes it onto the roadmap, we'll update the idea status from Planned to Started to Completed as work progresses on the idea. If an idea is declined or archived, our moderator will update the status to indicate so and you will receive your votes back to use on other ideas in the future. 

Finally, if more information is needed on an idea, the moderator will post a reply to ask for them. If it is your idea or you have commented on the idea, you should receive an email notification when this occurs.

  1. Glitch in shipstation with new "edit" feature!

    Glitch in shipstation with new "edit" feature!

    Recently, shopify rolled out an "edit" option. Where you would be able to edit an order in an "unfulfilled" state before you process it or mark it as fulfilled. However, it's looking like shipstation isn't computing these changes. For example, if someone wants to remove product "a" and add product "b" when we use the edit feature to make these changes then print it out in shipstation it says that they want both product "a" and product "b. PLEEASE fix this!!

  2. USMCA Certificate of Origin

    With USMCA replacing NAFTA, I would love to be able to print a certificate of origin while printing shipping labels. We do a lot of business with Canada and this would help us save our customers money and thus do more business.

  3. ShipStation Connect Deactivating

    Hi, it would be extremely helpful and time-saving if ShipStation Connect could stay active at all times so we do not have to deactivate/reactivate or log out/log back in every time we want to ship. We ship several times throughout the day and often have different people shipping so not everyone knows how to solve the problem when we cannot get a packing slip or label to print. We would really like to see a solution for ShipStation Connect so it stays connected with our printers at all time to make shipping processes more flawless.

  4. how do I add an automatic USPS return feature on my website

    Im looking to build a website where I can buy customers used electronics, collectibles and other items but want to integrate a shipping label so the customer can just print a USPS and drop it off at there post office. does anyone know how this can be done

  5. Custom Label Messages on UPS SurePost Labels

    I would like to be able to add the product name to the bottom of shipping labels. This works for my USPS and UPS Ground labels, but not UPS SurePost labels. Add custom label options for SurePost!

  6. Rate Calculator on V3 Scan and Verify Label Creator

    The biggest game changer in V3 is the Scan and Verify feature. This alone is helping us to make the decision to stay with SS after making the decision to leave because this feature is so crucial to eliminating misshiped orders.

    Just one down side, the ability to check rates in real time is no longer available during label creation in the Scan and Verify screen and that feature alone is priceless.

    I have attached two images displaying how V2 has the option during label creation and how V3 does not have that option in the same checkout process.

  7. Your software for printing is the worst software I am forced to use on a Mac.

    It constantly disappears. I just reinstalled it and an hour later it is gone.

    when I say it doesn’t work — I mean you go to print and it finds no printers even though I can print through every other app I have. it has always been like this.

    Also, in order to reinstall — you need to terminate the one that is running which requires using Terminal which most people don’t know about.

    Just 20 mins ago I removed it and reinstalled from the site restarted the browser, I added the printers back in and it worked. Then 30…

  8. Purolator - OrderNo on labels

    We are currently unable to add the Order Number on the Purolator label.

    If you go under Settings -> Printing Setup --> Labels document option, I can specify to print the order # under label messages. It works fine for Canada Post but it doesn't work for Purolator.

  9. Input purchase order numbers on PO line for FedEx

    Input purchase order numbers on the designated PO line for FedEx shipments. Some customers require the PO's to be input on this line and any errors on this line or not inputing the PO number results in vendor chargebacks.

  10. auto login to ship station connect

    Print Station auto connect on wake. We're running into a problem when the workstation that is running SSConnect goes to sleep, and then wakes back up. The suggestion from support was that everything needs to be logged out, and re log in again. This is a huge pain. if the workstation goes to sleep in the middle of the day due to inactivity.

    Allow for custom actions to be triggered by scanning a Barcode, such as updating the comments field with some default text or doing composite actions like adding label one & label two.

  13. 8.5x11 labels span two pages

    We use a laser printer and the specific 8.5x11 sheets ShipStation requires (sticky label up top, business paper on the bottom). When we have an order that spans two packages, we need the labels to print on two separate sheets. I see I am not alone in this request. Please fix.

    We sell educational materials and we recently have had customers reach out to us letting us know that their custom fees were outrageously high because our labels say 'merchandise" and not "educational materials". The "merchandise" option is requiring our customers to pay more in taxes and duties. Having the option "Educational Materials" in the "Content type" box on a customs form would be very beneficial to our international customers, who are already paying a lot in shipping fees.

  15. Make Scan and Verify An Option

    The Verify and Print workflow seems to add extra steps to our particular setup. We do not package our products in a manner that the UPC can be scanned and some of our product doesn't have a UPC at all. Making the Workflow able to be personalized instead of dictated to one particular rule set would be a great benefit for our company. A simple Scan and click Print label is the best layout for us.

    Please update documents to V3.
    Combined Orders need to be able to show all order numbers on the packing slip, as well as the Shipment ID

    Both of these supposedly already available on V3, but Shipstation documents are still on V2

  17. Sort And Print Shipping Labels By Package Type

    We like to organize our integrated shipping labels by package to mitigate mistakes during fulfillment. For example, we group all of our USPS Padded Envelopes, then the USPS Regional Rate A, etc. Currently this is a manual process after the integrated shipping labels are printed.

    Would save us a ton of time and mistakes if we could print them in groups of similar packages.

  18. V3 scan and verify

    In the V3 interface, scan to print has been replaced with scan and verify. The interface looks good but it requires the verification step. Our product is not barcoded so we are required to click the verify all button before being able to print the label. The products in the order are verified prior to the shipping step in our operation so, we just want to scan, weigh and print the label in the scan and verify / scan to print interface.

    Can you add a way to bypass the verify step for those of us that verify the order…

  20. Basic Document Creation Tools

    Australia Post offers a service for prepaid satchels:
    https://auspost.com.au/business/shipping/satchels-and-packaging/prepaid-satchels-and-envelopes

    These satchels have their own tracking numbers assigned to them already. What you're supposed to do is purchase the satchel from AusPost, and write down the address the parcel is going to manually and hand it off to them to send it.

    It would be cool if ShipStation had a way to create a basic "label (more like an address print-out)" for parcels like the ones offered by this service, so that the order can be Marked as Shipped and we have a more professional looking address on the parcel itself…
