ShipStation’s Feedback and Fresh Ideas Forum is moving!


We have started the process of moving our ideas forum to a new home in the ShipStation Community.

As of August 4th, 2021, this Feedback and Fresh Ideas Forum is no longer accepting new ideas, votes, or comments. However, this forum will remain visible until shortly after the new Ideas board on the ShipStation Community goes live. After that date, this forum will no longer be visible.

If you would like to post an idea after August 4th but before the new Ideas board is live, we have created a temporary discussion board in the community for you to do so. Once our new Ideas board is live, our moderator will move all posts to their permanent home.

ShipStation has used this same forum since we released our very first version back in 2011. In that time, we’ve implemented hundreds of our users’ ideas! But, as our users and our product has evolved, we’ve realized the way we seek and manage our users’ feedback must evolve as well. Starting in September, all feedback and ideas discussions will take place in the Ideas board of the ShipStation Community

If you are not already a member of the ShipStation Community, please join! You can participate in user discussion boards, read exclusive community blog posts, earn rewards through community exclusive events, and much more. To join, go to community.shipstation.com and click the profile icon. You’ll be prompted to log in to your ShipStation account and then redirected back to the community where you can set your unique username and customize your profile (if you wish). Once registered, you can participate in any discussion on the community. 


What will happen to the existing Feedback and Fresh Ideas posts?


Unfortunately, we cannot move all ideas to the new Ideas forum. The posts we are not moving are being set to the  "Archived" status in this forum.


The posts we do move will maintain their statuses, voter count, comments, and link to the original poster. 

Posts we will move to the new Ideas board: 

  • All posts in Started, Planned, and In Consideration Queue statuses.
  • Some posts in the Under Review status or with no status, based on post age, recent activity, vote count, and relevance.
  • Posts that have been set to Completed within the last 12 months.

  1. Remove Customer Company Name from Residential Address Labels

    Our store collects customer company information by default, since the vast majority of our customers are associated with a company. When a shipping address is marked by ShipStation as residential, however, the company name is still appearing in the shipping label.

    To prevent delivery issues, it would be helpful if ShipStation gave the option to have the customer company field removed from shipping labels if an address is considered "residential".

  2. Global 'Include Packslip Print' OFF/ON toggle workaround

    We constantly turn the 'PackSlip Print included' option OFF and ON all day long depending on which customer and product we are processing. This interrupts other locations which need the Packslip OFF or ON at the same time, or not the same, as it were... We have to coordinate with each location to avoid collisions.
    I understand this is a Global Setting, so we cannot choose to include PS by a User Logon, which would be ideal.
    I wonder if we could create a blank Template for a Customer and assign that blank PS to be printed. Then, when the…

  3. Ability to Change Default Ship Date

    Current problem: The default ship date for labels is the creation date, but you cannot schedule same day pickups from carriers (carriers do not permit that). So users are left with having to manually change the ship date on every label, or driving to the post office for same day shipments.

    Proposed solution: Allow users to change the default ship date on their labels.

  4. Generating customs invoices in correct currency

    When a customer buys in dollars or euros from our site, it doesn't go through to the customs forms as dollars - it generates in GBP.

    A customer in the US spent in dollars (under $800) which shouldn't mean they have to pay customs charges (as I believe it is set at $800) but it generated the customs invoice in £ (which then took the invoice over $800) and the customer has been charged $100 to receive their parcel.

    Please can you let me know why this has happened and if this is the case that all customs declarations will…

  5. Include an area in 'Notes' to include Special Delivery Instructions to be included on label (Parcelforce in particular)

    Within Parcelforce's own label creating page, they have 4 boxes to in put any 'Special Instructions' which will then print onto their product label.

    This is not currently supported within ShipStation (I have been recommended to included special instructions in address lines 2 & 3 - I have contacted Parcelforce directly to see if this is of any use).

  7. Sort Pick List by Order Number Sequence

    Ability to print pick lists in order number sequence rather than by combination of SKUS for multiple item orders, screenshot attached for reference/example.

    We are not set up to pick all SKUs at once & not having this capability creates a plethora of issues for us on picking and packing side of things.

  8. Import Vendor for Packing Slips

    It would be so helpful if I could print a vendor name on a packing slip. This is the brand that creates the product, not our business information. We sell products from over 40 vendors and just having the product name is not enough. Please implement this. The workaround is very time consuming (updating each item individually in Shipstation).

  9. Create customs declarations for Royal Mail orders sent from UK to Channel Islands

    Royal Mail require customs data for shipping orders to Guernsey and Jersey but Shipstation doesn't let us add declarations for these orders, so we have to ship them through other software.

  10. USPS Frist Class Mail >Label>>Document Options>>>Label Branding

    USPS currently prints Message #1,#2, #3 on First Class Parcel labels but the Messages do not print on First Class Mail Labels. I have been printing them on Teapplix for years and both platforms use the Stamps.com template. Shipstation support stated that this is not currently supported and suggested leaving feedback to add to future modifications. This is important to our business.

  11. Add telephone numbers to Parcelforce label

    Please could we add the telephone number of the sender and receiver to the Parcelforce labels. My parcel insurance provider requires this and at present I have to write it on the boxes which doesn't look very professional.

    Would like to have the option to print on Australia post pre-printed labels - 4 per page for regular and 3 per page for express, per the attached labels.

  13. Export Pick List to CSV

    It would be great to be able to export the Pick List data to csv or excel spreadsheet. This would be very handy in quickly being able to upload the csv into other various fulfillment/production/accounting applications.

  14. Simplified Shipping Re-purchase Process - one button

    It's a common issue...... customer orders product; it's shipped and then lost/delayed by the courier company.

    Current process is that a second, manual order has to be created to reship. This is time consuming and if a new, manual order, creates a non-associated manual order.

    It would be great if there was an option to create another shipping label within an original order. If you ADD SHIPMENT, you still have to fill in the Customs forms for Int. deliveries. One button could do it.

    The second issue relates to this and would be similar for re-ship part orders, for example…

  16. End of Day Manifests in Bulk

    For Aus Post/StarTrack Orders - Under Shipments > End of Day

    Currently, you have to close your orders off by shipment date or by the date the labels were printed on.

    This could lead the users to overlook manifesting for some orders if they were only doing this process weekly.

    This should be displayed as a general list, per ORDERS > AWAITING SHIPMENT (as an example). A filter option feature could then be added, so the user could filter by day.

    It would be handy if you could just automate this process, under your automation section.

  17. Gift Message - Special Card Printing

    We are looking for a way to batch print (alongside order batch printing) print a secondary document consisting of the Gift Message (or maybe any field) that the customer has entered onto a specialized cardstock note card.

    For the holidays (but also year-round) it would allow us to offer adding a personalized gift card where their message prints on possibly a foldable card or any type of Holiday / Greeting card. We just need the ability to not only print the packing slips, labels, etc but also add an option to print "gift messages". This could then be printed to…

  18. Faster label creation on the tablet !

    Would be great if you could reduce the amount of selections when printing on the app (SEE VIDEO). On the desktop you can simply select the the green create label but on the app you have to select 5 different things before receiving one which can be very time consuming and inefficient.
    If you could just select the weight and carrier then "create label" that would speed up our work flow!

  19. Dynamically change packing slips depending on item sku

    I would like to be able to change the font color for the items on the packing slips depending on the SKU. For instance we sell gold, black, brown etc brackets so if I could change the font color to be gold on the item name on the packing slip that would be helpful. We sell a lot of the same items but in different colors, so I think it would help to decrease the number of order picking mistakes if there were different font colors.

  20. Dash looks like a minus symbol.. ie looks like the variant is subtracted

    In the product layout and packing slip layout, the dash " - " after the product (and before the variant) looks like a minus symbol, which can be confusing as it looks like the product's variant/option is subtracted. My suggestion would be to change the dash to a colon " : "
